George Town Inner Ring Road
George Town Inner Ring Road is an urban ring road within the city of George Town, Penang, George Town in Penang, Malaysia. It comprises the eastern end of Gurney Drive, George Town, Gurney Drive, Jalan Pangkor, Jalan Perak and Jalan Sungai Pinang, forming a loop containing the city centre. Both the old and new George Town CBD, Penang, Central Business Districts of the city, as well as its UNESCO World Heritage Site, are located within the loop. The ring road serves to alleviate traffic congestion by acting as a bypass between the northern coast of George Town, Penang, George Town and the Tun Dr Lim Chong Eu Expressway to the southeast. Whilst the ring road is presently formed by municipal roads, infrastructural plans have been drawn up to turn the roads into a proper expressway, including the construction of elevated bypasses and a tunnel. Bayan Lepas is a town in the Malaysian state of Penang. It is located within the Southwest Penang Island District, near the southeastern tip of Penang Island. Founded in the 19th century, Bayan Lepas has various industries. History Bayan Lepas was believed to have been named after a wealthy Sumatran family who founded the town in the late 19th century. Raja Tun Uda Ferry Terminal
The Raja Tun Uda Ferry Terminal is a ferry slip within the city of George Town in Penang, Malaysia. Situated at Weld Quay in the city centre, this docking facility is used for Rapid Ferry services between George Town and Butterworth on the Malay Peninsula. The ferry terminal was completed in the 1960s. In addition to ferry services, the ferry terminal is located adjacent to the Weld Quay Bus Terminal, thus allowing ferry commuters to take Rapid Penang public buses to various destinations within the city. Weld Quay, George Town
Weld Quay is a coastal road along the eastern shoreline of the city of George Town in Penang, Malaysia. One of a handful of places worldwide that was named after a Prime Minister of New Zealand, the road connects the Tun Dr. Lim Chong Eu Expressway with Light Street and Beach Street in the heart of the city. Weld Quay was created as part of a massive land reclamation project in George Town in the late 19th century, which pushed the coastline further east. During the heyday of British rule, Weld Quay was home to the Port of Penang, which was then one of the major ports in Malaya. The Pinang River ( Malay: ''Sungai Pinang'') is a river that runs through the city of George Town in Penang, Malaysia. Ayer Itam (also spelt Air Itam or Air Hitam) is a suburb of George Town in Penang, Malaysia. The City Stadium is a multi-purpose stadium in George Town, Penang, Malaysia, and serves as the home stadium of the Penang state football team, Penang FA.
