George H. Plympton
George H. Plympton (September 2, 1889 – April 11, 1972) was an American screenwriter. He was born in Brooklyn, New York. A prolific screenwriter, Plympton collaborated in almost 300 films. His earliest known credits date back to 1912 as he concentrated almost exclusively on westerns. During the sound era he switched his focus to serials mostly for Columbia, Republic and Universal studios, co-scripting and adapting such chapter plays as '' Tarzan the Fearless'' (1933), ''Flash Gordon'' (1936), '' The Spider's Web'' (1938), ''The Phantom Creeps'' (1939), ''The Green Hornet'' (1940), ''Flash Gordon Conquers the Universe'' (1940), ''The Masked Marvel'' (1943), '' Chick Carter, Detective'' (1946), ''Brick Bradford'' (1947), ''Superman'' (1948), ''Batman and Robin'' (1949), and ''Atom Man vs. Superman'' (1950). ''The Masked Marvel'' (1943) is a 12-chapter film serial created by Republic Pictures, who produced many other well known serials. It was Republic's thirty-first serial, of the sixty-six they produced. Charles Robert Starrett (March 28, 1903 – March 22, 1986) was an American actor, best known for his starring role in the ''Durango Kid'' westerns. Starrett still holds the record for starring in the longest series of theatrical features: 131 westerns, all produced by Columbia Pictures. Early years Starrett was born in Athol, Massachusetts, where his grandfather had built a prosperous tool works. He attended Worcester Academy, then graduated from Dartmouth College.
