Genting Highlands
Genting Highlands is a hill station located on the peak of Mount Ulu Kali in the Titiwangsa Mountains, central Peninsular Malaysia, at 1,800 metres elevation. Located in the state of Pahang. It was established in 1965 by the late Chinese businessman Lim Goh Tong. The primary tourist attraction is Resorts World Genting, a hill resort where casinos and theme parks are situated and gambling is allowed. History The idea to build a hill resort near the capital city of Kuala Lumpur came from a late Malaysian Chinese businessman, Lim Goh Tong who was inspired by the fresh air in Cameron Highlands during his business trip there in 1963 for a hydroelectric power project. The rationale was that Cameron Highlands was too far away from Kuala Lumpur, and therefore building a mountain resort nearer to Kuala Lumpur would have excellent business potential. Genting Grand is a Y-shaped building hotel in Resorts World Genting, Pahang, Malaysia. It is one of the seven accommodations in the integrated hill resort and shares the building with the Resort Hotel. The hotel is notable with its trademark Genting logo on top of the building. History Genting Grand was initially built in 1978 as Genting Hotel and was the second hotel built in Genting Highlands Resorts (rebranded as Resorts World Genting) after Theme Park Hotel was built in 1971. The Genting Sempah–Genting Highlands Highway is the main highway from Genting Sempah to Genting Highlands, Malaysia, a mountain resort and entertainment park. This is a private highway owned by Genting Berhad. The speed limit of the highway is 50 km/h (31 mph). Route background The Genting Sempah–Genting Highlands Highway begins at the downhill Genting Sempah near 803 on Kuala Lumpur–Karak Expressway (kilometre 17.6). Genting Skyway
Genting Skyway is a gondola lift connecting Gohtong Jaya and Resort Hotel in Genting Highlands, Selangor, Malaysia. Its lower station at Gohtong Jaya township, located approximately northeast of Kuala Lumpur, comprises a 5-storey station building and a 10-storey car park while its upper station is located at the Highlands Hotel. The Genting Skyway is one of the two aerial lines serving Genting Highlands, serving as an alternate route since August 2016 when the new Awana Skyway is closed for maintenance. The mono cable gondola lift was officially opened by the fourth Prime Minister of Malaysia, Tun Dr Mahathir on 21 February 1997. Genting Skyway can carry more than 2,000 people per hour with 8 passengers per gondola.
