Genesis (2017)
Genesis (2017) was a special episode of '' Impact Wrestling'' and the tenth Genesis professional wrestling event produced by Total Nonstop Action Wrestling (TNA), which took place on January 8, 2017 at the Universal Studios in Orlando, Florida. It was not held on pay-per-view (PPV) and instead it aired on January 26 on Pop TV. Five matches were contested at the event and every championship in TNA was defended at Genesis. The main event was a thirty-minute Iron Man match, in which Eddie Edwards defended the World Heavyweight Championship against Lashley. Lashley won the match 3-2 to win the title. In other matches on the card, The Broken Hardys retained the World Tag Team Championship, Drew Galloway retained the Grand Championship, Rosemary retained the Knockouts Championship and DJZ retained the X Division Championship. Eddie Edwards (wrestler)
Eric Maher (born December 30, 1983) is an American professional wrestler, who is known by the ring name Eddie Edwards. He is currently signed to Impact Wrestling where he is a former two-time Impact World Champion, two-time Impact X Division Champion and a five-time Impact World Tag Team Champion with Davey Richards. Edwards has also wrestled for Ring of Honor (ROH), where he is a former World Champion, the inaugural Television Champion and a two-time World Tag Team Champion with his partner Davey Richards as The American Wolves. Impact World Championship
The Impact World Championship is a professional wrestling world championship created and promoted by Impact Wrestling. It is the promotion's principal championship. Like most professional wrestling championships, the title is won via the result of a predetermined match. The current champion is Josh Alexander, who is in his second reign. Before the championship was created, the promotion, then known as Total Nonstop Action Wrestling (TNA), controlled the NWA World Heavyweight Championship via an agreement with the National Wrestling Alliance (NWA). In professional wrestling, a heel (also known as a ''rudo'' in '' lucha libre'') is a wrestler who portrays a villain, "bad guy", or "rulebreaker", and acts as an antagonist to the faces, who are the heroic protagonist or "good guy" characters. Not everything a heel wrestler does must be villainous: heels need only to be booed or jeered by the audience to be effective characters, although most truly successful heels embrace other aspects of their devious personalities, such as cheating to win or using foreign objects. Mason Burnett (born August 30, 1983) is an American professional wrestler, best known for his time in Impact Wrestling where he competed under the ring name Kaleb with a K, or simply, Kaleb Konley. Michael Paris (born October 5, 1986) is a American professional wrestler currently signed to WWE, where he performs on the Smackdown brand, under the ring name Joaquin Wilde. The Impact Knockouts World Championship is a women's professional wrestling world championship owned by Impact Wrestling. It is primarily contested for in Impact's women's division, known as the Impact Knockouts. Impact Grand Championship
The Impact Grand Championship was a professional wrestling championship owned by Impact Wrestling. History The title was introduced at the August 13, 2016, tapings of TNA's television program '' Impact Wrestling'', after then-TNA President Billy Corgan announced that the TNA King of the Mountain Championship would be deactivated and retired in favor for the new championship. Corgan also announced an eight-man single elimination tournament that would feature new rules that would apply to the title. The new rules would be similar to how bouts were contested in professional wrestling in Europe in which each match would consist of three timed rounds, with a team of judges to determine the outcome based on points, if there is no winner via pin or submission within the time limit.
