Gateway To The Open Mizuno Open
The is a professional golf tournament played in Japan. Founded in 1971, it has been a Japan Golf Tour event since 1979. Since 1998, the event has been prefixed , with the top finishers gaining exemptions into The Open Championship. The Mizuno Open has been held at several course, most recently at Setonaikai Golf Club in Kasaoka, Okayama in 2021. The purse for the 2021 event was ¥80,000,000, with ¥16,000,000 going to the winner. History The Mizuno Open was founded in 1971 as the Mizuno Tournament with both men's and women's events running side-by-side. It was restricted to golfers using at least ten Mizuno clubs. In 1979, fifty leading professionals in Japan were also eligible to compete as the tournament counted towards the Japan Golf Tour money-list ranking for the first time. In 1983 it became a full tour event and in 1985 changed its name to the Mizuno Open. From 1991, the women's event was played separately. Michael Hendry
Michael Hendry (born 15 October 1979) is a professional golfer from New Zealand. Since 2013 he has played primarily on the Japan Golf Tour where he won the 2015 Token Homemate Cup. He won the 2013 New Zealand PGA Championship and the 2017 New Zealand Open. Career Hendry was born in Auckland, New Zealand. He turned professional in 2005. is a Japanese professional golfer who plays on the Japan Golf Tour. Akiyoshi won twice on the 2018 Japan Golf Tour, the Gateway to The Open Mizuno Open and the Dunlop Srixon Fukushima Open. Chan Kim (born March 24, 1990) is an American professional golfer who currently competes on the Japan Golf Tour. Early life Kim was born in Suwon, South Korea, but grew up in Hawaii. Ryutaro Nagano
is a Japanese professional golfer. He plays on the Japan Golf Tour where he has five runner-up finishes. Amateur career Nagano was born in the Kumamoto Prefecture and as a child honed his skills at a driving range built on his grandfather's ranch. He won the club championship at Kumamoto Airport CC as a freshman in junior high school.
