2019 Japan Golf Tour
The 2019 Japan Golf Tour season was played from 17 January to 8 December. The season consisted of 25 official money events, mostly in Japan. Other than the four majors, which are played outside Japan, there was one event played in Singapore and one event in South Korea. The SMBC Singapore Open was co-sanctioned by the Asian Tour. The Shinhan Donghae Open was co-sanctioned by the Asian Tour and the Korean Tour. The Zozo Championship was co-sanctioned by the PGA Tour (part of the 2019–20 PGA Tour season), the first ever such co-sanctioning. Unofficial events The following events were sanctioned by the Japan Golf Tour, but did not carry official money, nor were wins official. Ryo Ishikawa
, also known by the nickname , is a Japanese professional golfer. Amateur career On 20 May 2007, Ishikawa became the youngest winner ever of a men's regular tournament on the Japan Golf Tour by winning the Munsingwear Open KSB Cup at the age 15 years and 8 months. He competed as an amateur and it was Ishikawa's first tour appearance. He finished one shot ahead of Japan's 9th top ranked player at the time, Katsumasa Miyamoto. The highest ranked player on the Official World Golf Ranking who took part in the event was Toru Taniguchi who finished T13, 6 shots shy of Ishikawa. Taniguchi ranked number 86 in the world after the event. Professional career Ishikawa turned professional in 2008 and won another Japan Golf Tour tournament, the mynavi ABC Championship. Rikuya Hoshino (星野陸也, ''Hoshino Rikuya'', born 12 May 1996) is a Japanese professional golfer. He has played full-time on the Japan Golf Tour since 2017 and has won six times on the tour. Professional career Hoshino turned professional in August 2016. In early 2017, he won the Novil Cup on the Japan Challenge Tour. Since 2017, Hoshino has played on the main Japan Golf Tour. His first win came in September 2018 at the Fujisankei Classic which he won by 5 strokes. With eight more top-10 finishes he finished 2018 as the 6th highest money winner on the tour. Since 1998, the event has been prefixed , with the top finishers gaining exemptions into The Open Championship. Professional career Asaji won the 2019 Asia-Pacific Diamond Cup Golf (a co-sanctioned event with the Asian Tour), to qualify for the 2019 Open Championship.
