Gus Hendrickson
Gustaf Dale Hendrickson (1940 – January 25, 2024) was an American professional ice hockey player and head coach. He was in charge of the program at Minnesota–Duluth for seven seasons. Career Hendrickson was born in 1940. He played for Michigan State for three seasons in the early 1960s, helping the team to a third-place finish in the WCHA tournament during his final year of eligibility. After leaving East Lansing Hendrickson found his way behind the bench at Grand Rapids High School. After building a successful program he accepted the post at Minnesota–Duluth, taking his assistant Mike Sertich along for the ride. Hendrickson built the program slowly, finishing out of the playoffs in each of his first two seasons before positive results started to show. Eveleth, Minnesota
Eveleth is a city in St. Louis County, Minnesota, United States. The population was 3,718 at the 2010 census. U.S. Highway 53 and State Highway 37 (MN 37) are two of the main routes in Eveleth. Eveleth was the site of the conflict that resulted in the court case '' Jenson v. Eveleth Taconite Co.'', and the film based on it, ''North Country''. The United States Hockey Hall of Fame is in Eveleth. Eveleth is part of the Quad Cities, with Virginia, Gilbert, and Mountain Iron. History The Village of Eveleth was platted on April 22, 1893, originally about southwest of the present location, on land then included in the Adams-Spruce Mine (Douglas Avenue between Jones and Monroe Streets). The 1982 WCHA Men's Ice Hockey Tournament was the 23rd conference playoff in league history and 30th season where a WCHA champion was crowned. The tournament was played between March 4 and March 14, 1982. First round and semifinal games were played at home team campus sites while the championship match was held at the Winter Sports Center in Grand Forks, North Dakota. By winning the tournament, Wisconsin received the WCHA's automatic bid to the 1982 NCAA Division I Men's Ice Hockey Tournament. This as the first WCHA tournament held after the defection of four conference schools to the CCHA.
