Greifenseelauf
The Greifenseelauf is an annual road running event in the Swiss Canton of Zurich, that was established in 1980 and takes place in the middle of September. From 1980 to 1985 the course ran over a distance of 19 km, from 1986 to 1991 over 19.5 km. Ever since 1992 the distance of the course has been that of a half marathon, 21.0975 km). The current course runs counter-clockwise around the Greifensee. The start and finish points are in Uster. Both the half marathon and 10 km run are officially measured. Apart from these two distances there are a variety of short distances - especially for children. In 2009 the half marathon had 8985 finishers (6360 men and 2625 women), 1193 more than the year before. That same year, the 10 km race was completed by 1737 people (750 men and 987 women). Uster
Uster ( High Alemannic: ''Uschter'') is a town and the capital of the Uster District in the Swiss canton of Zürich. It is the third largest town in the canton of Zürich, with almost 35,000 inhabitants, and is one of the twenty largest towns in Switzerland. Uster is located next to a lake, called Greifensee. Fabienne Schlumpf
Fabienne Schlumpf (born 17 November 1990) is a Swiss athlete specialising in the 3000 metres steeplechase, and later, marathon running. She won the silver medal at the 2018 European Championships. In 2020, she competed in the women's half marathon at the 2020 World Athletics Half Marathon Championships held in Gdynia, Poland. Her personal best of 9:37.81 is the former national record, since beaten by Chiara Scherrer in 2022. She used the competition-free time during the COVID-19 pandemic to re-orient towards marathon running. Tadesse Abraham (born 12 August 1982) is an Eritrea-born Swiss long-distance runner who specialises in the marathon. Nicola Spirig Hug (born 7 February 1982) is a Swiss lawyer and former professional triathlete. She is the 2012 Olympic and six times European champion in women's triathlon. A muleta is a stick with a red cloth hanging from itmuleta' in the Diccionario de la Real Academia. that is used in the final third ('' tercio de muleta'' or ''de muerte'') of a bullfight.
