Gregorio Paz
Gregorio Paz (1797 - 7 September 1869) was an Argentine soldier who fought in the war of Independence, the war against the Peru–Bolivian Confederation and in the Argentine civil wars. Early years Gregorio Paz was born in San Miguel de Tucumán in 1797. He was the son of Juan Bautista Paz, who served several times as minister of the province, and his brother was the vice president Marcos Paz. Gregorio Paz joined the Northern Army in 1814, where he participated in the Battle of Sipe-Sipe. After this, he joined the army of the Republic of Tucumán and participated in the civil wars of the early 1820s. In 1823 he was appointed commander of Amaichá Valley and Colalao Valley, on the western edge of the province. San Miguel De Tucumán
San Miguel de Tucumán (; usually called simply Tucumán) is the capital and largest city of Tucumán Province, located in northern Argentina from Buenos Aires. It is the fifth-largest city of Argentina after Buenos Aires, Córdoba, Rosario and Mendoza and the most important of the northern region. The Spanish conquistador founded the city in 1565 in the course of an expedition from present-day Peru. Tucumán moved to its present site in 1685. Ildefonsus or Ildephonsus (rarely ''Ildephoses'' or ''Ildefonse''; Spanish: San Ildefonso; c. 8 December 607 – 23 January 667) was a scholar and theologian who served as the metropolitan (religion), metropolitan Bishop of Toledo for the last decade of his life. Tarija or San Bernardo de la Frontera de Tarixa is a city in southern Bolivia. Humahuaca () is a small city in the province of Jujuy, Argentina. Since 2003 declared World Heritage Site by UNESCO at the Paris conference. It has 11,369 inhabitants as per the , and is the principal town (seat) of the Department of Humahuaca. The city is widely known for its location at the Quebrada de Humahuaca, along the Eastern valley of the central Andean Altiplano. Juan Manuel José Domingo Ortiz de Rosas (30 March 1793 – 14 March 1877), nicknamed "Restorer of the Laws", was an Argentine politician and army officer who ruled Buenos Aires Province and briefly the Argentine Confederation. Although born into a wealthy family, Rosas independently amassed a personal fortune, acquiring large tracts of land in the process. Rosas enlisted his workers in a private militia, as was common for rural proprietors, and took part in the disputes that led to numerous civil wars in his country. Victorious in warfare, personally influential, and with vast landholdings and a loyal private army, Rosas became a caudillo, as provincial warlords in the region were known.
