Greek Basket League Awards
Greek Basket League awards are the yearly individual awards that are given by the Greek basketball league system, 1st-tier professional basketball league in Greece, the Greek Basketball League (GBL). Since the Greek Basket League 2014-15, 2014–15 season, the awards are voted on by the fans online, whereas previously they were not. The voting is currently decided by a ratio of 40% by the ballfans and the media, and 60% by the basketball coach, coaches and the captain (sports), captains of each of the teams of the Greek Basketball League. However, the Most Popular Player and Women's Favorite Player awards are decided exclusively by the fan's online voting. Soulis Markopoulos
Anastasios "Soulis" Markopoulos (; born March 1, 1949) is a Greek former professional basketball player and a professional basketball coach. He last coached Aris Thessaloniki of the Greek Basket League. He holds the all-time record for the most total games as a head coach, in the history of the Greek Championship. He was inducted into the Greek Basket League Hall of Fame in 2023. Playing career Markopoulos played club basketball with the Greek club Olympos Saranta Ekklision, from 1967 to 1972. He then played with the Greek club Dimokritos Thessaloniki, from 1972 to 1978. While he was with Dimokritos, he played multiple seasons in the top-tier level Greek Basket League. Coaching career Markopoulos has coached, in his career, teams such as: Iraklis Thessaloniki, PAOK Thessaloniki, Aris Thessaloniki, Makedonikos, AEK Athens, and Maroussi Athens. Giorgos Bartzokas
Georgios Bartzokas (alternate spellings: Giorgos, George, Mpartzokas) ( born June 11, 1965) is a Greek former professional basketball player, and the current head basketball coach for Olympiacos of the Greek Basketball League (GBL) and the EuroLeague. During his career as a head coach, Bartzokas (a.k.a. "Chess player") has won numerous titles. With the Greek club Olympiacos Piraeus, he won the World Club Championship title, as he won the 2013 edition of the FIBA Intercontinental Cup. He also won the championship of Europe's premiere club competition, the EuroLeague, at the 2013 EuroLeague Final Four, with Olympiacos. Marousi or Maroussi (), also known as Amarousio (), is a city and a suburb in the northeastern part of the Athens urban area, Greece. Marousi dates back to the era of the ancient Athenian Republic; its ancient name was '' Athmonon'' () and it represented one of the 10 Athenian sub-cities. The area held a main ancient temple, where Amarysia Artemis, the goddess of hunting, was adored. Consequently the city's modern name derives from that of the goddess, ''Amarysia'', which denotes the origin of the worship back in Amarynthos, Euboea. Panagiotis "Notis" Giannakis (, ; born January 1, 1959), alternatively spelled Panayiotis Yiannakis or Yannakis, is a former Greek professional basketball player and coach. He is considered to be one of the greatest sportspeople of Greece.
