"Greasy Geezers" are a dance production unit based in East London whose production portfolio covers commercial Urban music, urban/pop, Electronic dance music, electro dance, Hip hop music, hip-hop and go-go (DC) remakes. The group is composed of producers and songwriters whose backgrounds include working with Sanctuary Music Management, Trinity Records and Sacred Records. Greasy Geezers the name originates from the actual title of a record label established in 2002 by Najero Okenabirhie (previously working for Sanctuary Records Group, Sanctuary Music Management on accountancy projects for Iron Maiden and Bruce Dickinson). This imprint label focused predominantly on UK garage, garage releases. Most notable were releases presented by DJ Iron 'Some Good Garage EP'. As the garage scene waned the label diversified and changed their roster becoming a nu-jazz down tempo entity. "Greasy Geezer’s Revival Jubilee" is a dance revival UK Garage, Electro re-release from the dance production unit ‘Greasy Geezers’. The ep was released 16 April 2012 on I-innovate (UK) and featured various artists. Background The ep was the 2012 digital version of a vinyl UK Garage ep compilation released several years earlier by Greasy Geezers. The inspiration for the revival release was the featured track ''Elizabeth (Queen’s Heads)'' which coincided with UK events surrounding the Diamond Jubilee of Queen Elizabeth II. Originally the vinyl edition was presented by UK Urban promoter DJ Iron (Ian Moore) and South London based producer Chino. UK garage, abbreviated as UKG, is a genre of electronic dance music which originated in England in the early to mid-1990s. The genre was most clearly inspired by garage house and jungle production methods, but also incorporates elements from dance-pop and R&B. It is defined by percussive, shuffled rhythms with syncopated hi-hats, cymbals, and snares, and may include either 4/4 house kick patterns or more irregular " 2-step" rhythms. Background The single is an adaptation of a UK Jazz Hip-Hop release performed by Caveman named "Fry You Like Fish". This relationship coined the artist name ‘"Greasy Geezers vs. Caveman"’. Timothy Westwood (born 3 October 1957), often known professionally simply as Westwood, is a British DJ and presenter. Caveman was a British hip hop group originally from High Wycombe, England, consisting of MCM, the Principal, and Diamond J. They were the first British hip hop group to be signed to a major U.S. record label, Profile Records. History The group's first releases were the twelve inch single "Victory" (Profile, 1990) and "Fry You Like Fish" (Profile, 1990), and the ''I'm Ready EP'' (Profile, 1990). This established their jazz-based style of hip hop, influenced by U.S. artists such as Gang Starr.
