Granhammar Castle
Granhammar Castle (''Granhammars Herrgård'') is a manor house at Upplands-Bro Municipality in Uppland, Sweden. History The main building was built in 1748-1752 according to drawings by architect Carl Hårleman (1700-1753). Between 1802 and 1804, the main building was added with a guest apartment according to drawings by the architect Gustaf Pfeffer (1768-1844). The surrounding park was expanded and beautified during the years 1777–1819 by under the direction of Jeanna von Lantingshausen (1753–1809) and Baron Albrekt von Lantingshausen (1751-1820). Upplands-Bro Municipality
Upplands-Bro Municipality (''Upplands-Bro kommun'') is a municipality in Stockholm County in east central Sweden. Its seat is located in the town of Kungsängen. The municipality was formed in 1952 through the amalgamation of five rural municipalities in Uppsala County. In 1971 it was transferred to Stockholm County. Geography Situated by Lake Mälaren it is distinguished by its nature. The overwhelming majority of the population are located to one of the three towns Kungsängen (pop. 7,500), Bro (6,200) and Brunna (4,000), and most of the remaining area is taken up by countryside, a substantial part of it being agricultural. History As apparent from its coat of arms, Upplands-Bro takes pride in its pre-historic history, and boasts some of the oldest ancient remains in Sweden. Uppland
Uppland () is a historical province or ' on the eastern coast of Sweden, just north of Stockholm, the capital. It borders Södermanland, Västmanland and Gästrikland. It is also bounded by lake Mälaren and the Baltic Sea. Carl Hårleman
Baron Carl Hårleman (27 August 1700 – 9 February 1753) was a Swedish architect. Biography Hårleman was born in Stockholm, son of the garden architect and head of the royal parks and gardens Johan Hårleman, who had been ennobled in 1698. He began his architectural training under Göran Josua Adelcrantz (1668-1739). After receiving a state scholarship, he left Sweden for studies abroad in 1721, first going to Paris, where he spent four years as a student at the Royal French Academy of Architecture and the French Academy of Art. He later continued to Italy and was called back to Sweden while in Venice in 1727. In 1728, upon the death of Nicodemus Tessin the Younger, Hårleman was appointed court intendant and subsequently in 1741, after Tessin's son Carl Gustaf Tessin had been made a member of the privy council, his successor as court superintendent. Jeanna Von Lantingshausen
Johanna "Jeanna" von Lantingshausen, née von Stockenström, (1753–1809), was a Swedish noble and courtier. She is foremost known as the instigator of the political demonstration by the noblewomen toward Gustav III in opposition of his parliamentary act of 1789. Life She was the daughter of Riksråd count Erik von Stockenström and Johanna Bedoire and was married in 1777 to Baron Albrekt von Lantingshausen. Johanna von Lantingshausen was a popular socialite and known for her performances within the amateur theater of Gustav III of Sweden: she was formerly a maid of honor to Sophia Magdalena of Denmark and a personal friend of Hedwig Elizabeth Charlotte of Holstein-Gottorp.
