Gömböc
A gömböc () is any member of a class of convex set, convex, three-dimensional and homogeneous bodies that are ''mono-monostatic'', meaning that they have just one stable and one unstable Mechanical equilibrium, point of equilibrium when resting on a flat surface. The existence of this class was conjectured by the Russian mathematician Vladimir Arnold in 1995 and mathematical proof, proven in 2006 by the Hungarian scientists Gábor Domokos and Péter Várkonyi by constructing at first a mathematical example and subsequently a physical example. The gömböc's shape helped to explain the body structure of some tortoises and their ability to return to an equilibrium position after being placed upside down. Copies of the first physically constructed example of a gömböc have been donated to institutions and museums, and the largest one was presented at the Expo 2010 Shanghai China, World Expo 2010 in Shanghai, China. Name If analyzed quantitatively in terms of flatness and th ...

Andreja Gomboc
Andreja Gomboc (born 10 November 1969), is a Slovenian astrophysicist. Biography Andreja Gomboc was born in Murska Sobota, Slovenia. Andreja Gomboc graduated in 1995 at the Faculty of Mathematics and Physics (FMF) at University of Ljubljana with diploma work ''The appearance of a star falling in a black hole'' (''Kako je videti padec zvezde v črno luknjo.''). From 1995 to 2001, she was a postgraduate student of physics at FMF and also a teaching assistant. She obtained Ph.D. by defending the dissertation ''Rapid luminosity changes due to interaction with a black hole'' ('), which she prepared under the supervision of Andrej Čadež. In the dissertation she treated tidal disruption of stars during a close encounter with a massive black hole in a galactic nucleus. After obtaining her PhD, she became a member of the Department of Physics at FMF, where she was an associate professor of astronomy and astrophysics and lectured subjects: Astrophysics, Astronomy 2, Theoretical A ...
