Giro (singer)
Jorge Manuel Lopez , also known as Giro Lopez (born March 9, 1971), is a Puerto Rican salsa musician. Career Giro began his career as part of the boy band of Puerto Rico called Los Chicos. Two singles by "Giro" Jorge López, "Si Tu Supieras" and "Mi Forma de Sentir", reached #1 on the Latin Tropical Airplay. In 1995, Giro received a Lo Nuestro award for " New Tropical Singer of the Year" and in 1996 also was nominated for Best Male Tropical Singer of the Year. He won a Gold Record at the New Jersey OTT Awards (National Songwriters Contest), presented by Billboard magazine. He was signed to Sony Music (SDI - Sony Discos International) from 1988 until 2000. In 1988 Jorge studied voice and acting at Mercer County Community College in East Windsor New Jersey for 2 semesters before returning to Puerto Rico to launch his solo career. Tony Vega Cesar (born July 13, 1957) is a Puerto Rican salsa music, salsa singer. Early years Vega was born in the town of Salinas, California. His family moved to Philadelphia, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania when he was three months old, and remained there until he was 10 years old, before moving to Puerto Rico. He was born into a family of musicians so, therefore, he learned how to play the Bongo drum, bongos and conga at an early age. In 1967, when he was 10 years old, he played the conga for a children's band called La Preferida. His family moved to New York City in 1968. In New York, Vega continued to go to school. In his free time however, he played the conga for various local Latin rock bands including City Trash. Humberto "Tito" Nieves (born June 4, 1958; also known as "El Luciano Pavarotti, Pavarotti de la Salsa") is a Puerto Rican musician who became one of the leading Salsa music, salsa singers of the 1980s and the early 1990s. Early life Humberto "Tito" Nieves was born in Río Piedras, Puerto Rico, and raised in the United States. Career Nieves began his career while participating in Orquesta Cimarron, a New York City, New York–based group. In 1977, he teamed up with singer Héctor Lavoe and his Orchestra and joined the Conjunto Clasico. Later, Nieves started his solo career in 1986, setting himself apart by singing salsa in English. Jerry Rivera (born Gerardo Rivera Rodríguez on July 31, 1973) is a Puerto Rican salsa singer and songwriter. Early years Rivera was born in Humacao, a town located on the eastern coast of Puerto Rico. He moved with his family to Levittown in the town of Toa Baja, where he received his primary and secondary education. His entire family consists of musicians, including tropical recording artists and younger sister Saned. Two other brothers, Ito and Jose, are professional instrumental musicians. Julio César "Tito" Rojas López (June 14, 1955 – December 26, 2020), also known as "El Gallo Salsero", was a Puerto Rican salsa singer and songwriter. Early years Tito Rojas was born and raised in the town of Humacao, Puerto Rico, which is located on the east coast of Puerto Rico. There, he received his primary and secondary education. He enjoyed singing to his family and he would also sing the latest salsa tunes with his friends. Rey Ruiz (Reinerio Ruiz born June 21, 1966 in La Lisa, Havana, Cuba) is a salsa singer from Cuba. Ruiz reached international fame across Latin America, Europe and among Hispanic music fans in the United States.
