Georgia Swarm
The Georgia Swarm are an American professional box lacrosse team based in the Atlanta metropolitan area that competes in the National Lacrosse League (NLL). They have been playing at the 13,000-seat Gas South Arena since their 2016 season. Team history Originally formed as the 2002 expansion Montreal Express, the owners of the Minnesota Swarm purchased the inactive Express franchise from the NLL to create the Swarm in 2004. They played at the Xcel Energy Center in Saint Paul, Minnesota from 2004 until 2015. On May 22, 2015, team owner John Arlotta announced that the Xcel Energy Center did not renew the contract for the team. Instead of negotiating for a new lease, the Swarm began looking for potential relocation sites and eventually chose the Atlanta metro area. In 2017 the Swarm won the NLL championship title against the defending Saskatchewan Rush 2–0 in a best of three series. National Lacrosse League
The National Lacrosse League (NLL) is a professional box lacrosse league in North America. The league comprises 14 teams8 in the United States and 6 in Canada. The NLL is headquartered in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The NLL ranks third in average attendance for pro indoor sports worldwide, behind only the National Hockey League (NHL) and National Basketball Association (NBA). 2022 NLL Season
The 2022 National Lacrosse League season, formally known as the 2021–2022 season, was the 35th in the history of the NLL. The season began on December 3, 2021, and ended with the NLL final in late spring of 2022. This was the inaugural season for the expansion team Panther City Lacrosse Club, and the Albany FireWolves who relocated from New England. The NLL returned after missing a season due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The Colorado Mammoth defeated the Buffalo Bandits in a best of three series to win its first championship since 2006. The 2022 season was the start of a multi-year broadcasting deal with ESPN. 2020 NLL Season
The 2020 National Lacrosse League season, formally known as the 2019–2020 season, was the 34th in the history of the NLL. The season began on November 29, 2019 and was scheduled to end with the NLL final in late spring of 2020. However due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the season was suspended on March 12, 2020. On April 8, the league made a further public statement announcing the cancellation of the remaining games of the 2020 season and that they would be exploring options for playoffs once it was safe to resume play. This season was the inaugural season for the expansion Knighthawks and Riptide. The former Rochester Knighthawks under owner Curt Styres relocated to Halifax for this season while Pegula Sports and Entertainment took over the Knighthawks moniker with a new expansion team. Mike Poulin
Mike Poulin (born December 17, 1985, in Kitchener, Ontario) is a Czech Canadian professional lacrosse goaltender who plays for the San Diego Seals of the National Lacrosse League (NLL). He formerly played for the Georgia Swarm, Calgary Roughnecks, the Toronto Rock and the Boston Blazers. He also plays for the Brooklin Redmen and formerly played with Kitchener-Waterloo Kodiaks and Six Nations Chiefs of Major Series Lacrosse (MSL). Poulin was awarded the Goaltender of the Year Award in the 2012 NLL season. In the 2014 NLL season, he passed Curtis Palidwor to become the all-time Roughneck leader in minutes played with 3,946.
