He is the chairman and CEO of Neuberger Berman, one of the largest independent, employee-owned investment management firms. George Herbert Walker III (March 16, 1931 – January 18, 2020) was an American businessman, diplomat and philanthropist. Walker served as the United States Ambassador to Hungary from 2003 to 2006. Sir George Gustavus Walker KCB JP DL (18 January 1830 – 5 August 1897) was a Conservative Member of Parliament (MP). The son of John Walker, of Crawfordton, and his wife, Jessy, he was educated at Rugby School and Balliol College, Oxford. He was the Conservative MP for Dumfriesshire, elected at the 1865 general election. He lost to Liberal Sydney Waterlow at the 1868 general election, but regained his seat at a by-election in 1869 owing to the disqualification of Waterlow when he became a government contractor. Walker stepped down at the 1874 general election. John Hope-Johnstone (1842–1912) subsequently won the seat for the Tories. He was appointed KCB in 1892. George Walker (c.1645 – 1 July 1690 Old Style) was an English soldier and Anglican priest. He was joint Governor of Derry during the Siege in 1689. He was killed at the Battle of the Boyne while going to the aid of the wounded Duke of Schomberg. George Walker (Kentucky Politician)
George Walker (1763 – August 19, 1819) was a U.S. Senator from Kentucky. Born in Culpeper County, Virginia, Walker attended the common schools and served in the American Revolutionary War. He moved to Jessamine County, Kentucky, in 1794 and studied law. He was admitted to the bar and commenced practice in Nicholasville, Kentucky, in 1799. He served as a commissioner of the Kentucky River Company in 1801. Walker was a member of the Kentucky State Senate from 1810 to 1814. He was then appointed to the United States Senate to fill the vacancy caused by the resignation of George M. Bibb, and served from August 30, 1814, to February 2, 1815, when a successor was elected. He died in Nicholasville in 1819, and was interred on his estate near there. George Walker was the brother of David Walker and John Walker and the great-uncle of James D. Walker. General Sir George Townshend Walker, 1st Baronet (25 May 1764 – 14 November 1842) was a British Army officer. He joined the army in 1782, serving with the 36th Regiment of Foot in India in 1784 and as aide de camp to General Thomas Bruce in Ireland in 1787. After being promoted to captain lieutenant, Walker studied in Germany until he was promoted to captain in the 60th Regiment of Foot in 1791. When the French Revolutionary War began in 1793, he took a force of volunteers to reinforce the Flanders Campaign, where he fought at the Battle of Tournay. While on the continent he helped form Roll's Regiment for British service. He took it to England in 1796, and having been promoted to major he went to serve in Portugal in 1797. Here Walker again served as an aide de camp, to at first Major-General Simon Fraser and then the Prince of Waldeck.
