George Morrell (football Manager)
George Morrell (1872-after 1915) was a Scottish football manager. He joined Woolwich Arsenal as manager in February 1908, having joined the club from Morton. Although in his first full season he helped the team finish sixth in the League, with low attendances the club had fallen into debt and had to sell many of their best players, with stars such as Tim Coleman, Bert Freeman, Jimmy Sharp, Jimmy Ashcroft and William Garbutt all leaving during 1908. Although Morrell led the club to 6th place in 1908-09, at the time an all-time best, after that the club declined, finishing 18th the next. In 1910 Arsenal were taken over by Sir Henry Norris but despite speculation he would be sacked, Morrell continued in his post. Arsenal rallied to finish 10th, in mid-table, for both the 1910-11 and 1911-12 seasons. George Herbert Morrell MA, MP, JP, DL (1845, Adderbury – 30 September 1906, Bad Nauheim) was an English politician and lawyer. George Herbert Morrell was the son of the Rev. G. K. Morrell, fellow of St John's College, Oxford.'Mr G. H. George Truman Morrell
Commander George Truman Morrell RN (29 January 1830 – 7 May 1912) was a British naval, officer and explorer active during the Victorian era. Early years George Truman Morrell was born 29 January 1830 in Dinan, Brittany, France, a British subject. He was the second son of a naval officer, Arthur Fleming Morrell, and Elizabeth Reid, who was the daughter of a pay officer at the Plymouth Dockyard. His eldest brother, Charles Walter Morrell, died in 1839, aged 11. His younger brother, Arthur Morrell, also born in Dinan became a Rear-Admiral in the Royal Navy. Career Morrell joined the Royal Navy in 1842 at age 12, a first class volunteer aboard HMS ''Calcutta'', Captain George Frederick Rich commanding. 1975 Hardie Ferodo 1000
The 1975 Hardie-Ferodo 1000 was the 16th running of the Bathurst 1000 touring car race. It was an endurance race for touring cars complying with CAMS Group C regulations. The event was held at the Mount Panorama Circuit just outside Bathurst, New South Wales on 5 October 1975 over a distance of 1006.036 km (163 laps × 6.172 km). The race was Round 3 of the 1975 Australian Manufacturers' Championship. The race was won by Peter Brock, his second win, and Brian Sampson for his only Bathurst 1000 win. The pair drove their Gown - Hindhaugh entered Holden LH Torana SL/R 5000 L34 to a two-lap victory, avenging the previous year's result when the pair built up a record six-lap lead before suffering terminal engine failure on lap 118 with Brock at the wheel.
