George Bobolas
George Bobolas ( el, Γιώργος Μπόμπολας; 14 February 1928 – 11 April 2023) was a Greek construction and media businessman. Biography Bobolas developed properties all over the Balkans, Europe and the Near East for over four decades. He was also a media magnate owning the Greek TV Mega Channel and several magazines and newspapers, part of Attiki Odos, 49% of the Parnitha Casino and gold mines in Italy and Greece. He had 5.62% of the voting rights of Pegasus Publishing S.A, which is listed on the Athens Stock Exchange (). Bobolas died on 11 April 2023, at the age of 95. MEGA Channel, also known as MEGA TV or just MEGA, is a television network in Greece, that broadcasts a mix of foreign and Greek programming. It is the first and the oldest private television network in Greece. History Mega Channel (1989–2018) Mega is the first private television station to launch in Greece on 20 November 1989 and was the trade name of Teletypos S.A. (Τηλέτυπος A.E.) The channel regularly achieved the top ratings spot in Greece through its varied programming including comedies, dramas, news, current affairs and entertainment shows. Attiki Odos ( el, Αττική Οδός) is a privately owned toll motorway system in Greece. The Attiki Odos motorways form the outer beltways of the Greater Athens metropolitan area. Mount Parnitha ( ell, Πάρνηθα, , Katharevousa and grc, Πάρνης ''Parnis''/''Parnes''; sometimes Parnetha) is a densely forested mountain range north of Athens, the highest on the peninsula of Attica, with an elevation of 1,413 m, and a summit known as Karavola (Καραβόλα). Much of the mountain is designated a national park, and is a protected habitat for wildfowl, first created in 1961. The summit is located 18 km north of Acharnes and about 30 km north of Athens city center, while the mountain covers approximately 250 km² of land.
