Gateshead College
Gateshead College is a further education college in the town of Gateshead, England. It offers further education for 16-18 year olds as well as higher education, apprenticeships, part-time adult learning and training for employers. Established on November 15, 1955 at Durham Road in Low Fell, Gateshead, it was closed in January 2008 for its displacement to the new main site located at the Baltic Quayside in Gateshead. Founding and development Originally established on November 15, 1955 and opened by the Duke of Edinburgh, the college was closed in January 2008 so as to be moved. The new £39 million main site is located at Baltic Quayside in Gateshead. The Academy for Sport based at Gateshead International Stadium and in Team Valley the Skills Academy for Automotive, Engineering, Manufacturing and Logistics were then also opened. Gateshead () is a town in the Gateshead Metropolitan Borough of Tyne and Wear, England. It is on the River Tyne's southern bank. The town's attractions include the twenty metre tall Angel of the North sculpture on the town's southern outskirts, The Glasshouse International Centre for Music and the Baltic Centre for Contemporary Art. Rachael Laws (born 5 November 1990) is an English footballer who plays as a goalkeeper for Women's Super League club Liverpool. Early life Laws was born in Newcastle upon Tyne, and studied at Gateshead College. Club career Laws first played for Liverpool during the 2013 FA WSL season. She played 9 games and helped her side win the title while battling for a place in the first team with Sarah Quantrill. She then signed for Sunderland on 31 December 2013 going on to make 36 appearances in the WSL. Following Sunderland's denial for a place in the 2018–19 FA WSL she joined Reading. Carly Mitchell Telford (born 7 July 1987) is an English former professional footballer who played as a goalkeeper. Club career Telford joined Leeds United Ladies in 2007 from relegated club Sunderland. In May of that year she had turned out for Charlton Athletic in a tournament in Spain, but Charlton disbanded their women's team shortly afterwards.
