Gail Lumet Buckley
Gail Lumet Buckley (née Gail Horne Jones; December 21, 1937 – July 18, 2024) was an American journalist and author. Life and career Buckley was the daughter of the singer and actress Lena Horne and political activist Louis Jordan Jones. Career Gail Horne Jones was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania but spent time in New York and California. She was raised Catholic. She graduated from Radcliffe College with a bachelor's degree in 1959. She interned at ''Marie Claire'' in Paris before returning to the United States. She was hired by ''Life'' magazine in 1962. Later, she was published in newspapers including ''The New York Times'' and ''The Los Angeles Times''. She wrote her first book in 1986, entitled ''The Hornes: An American Family''. Marriages Buckley was married to director Sidney Lumet from 1963 until 1978, when they divorced; they had two children, including Jenny Lumet. Lena Horne
Lena Mary Calhoun Horne (June 30, 1917 – May 9, 2010) was an American singer, actress, dancer and civil rights activist. Horne's career spanned more than seventy years and covered film, television and theatre. Horne joined the chorus of the Cotton Club at the age of sixteen and became a nightclub performer before moving on to Cinema of the United States, Hollywood and Broadway theatre, Broadway. A groundbreaking African-American performer, Horne advocated for civil rights and took part in the March on Washington for Jobs and Freedom, March on Washington in August 1963. Later she returned to her roots as a nightclub performer and continued to work on television while releasing well-received record albums. She announced her retirement in March 1980, but the next year starred in a one-woman show, ''Lena Horne: The Lady and Her Music'', which ran for more than 300 performances on Broadway. Kevin Buckley (journalist)
Kevin John Buckley (born January 16, 1959) is an American former Major League Baseball (MLB) player who played for the Texas Rangers in 1984. A native of Quincy, Massachusetts, Buckley attended Braintree High School prior to attending the University of Maine. In 1978, he played collegiate summer baseball with the Cotuit Kettleers of the Cape Cod Baseball League. With Maine's baseball team, Buckley appeared in the 1981 College World Series. Drafted in the 17th round of the 1981 Major League Baseball draft, Buckley made his major league debut with the Texas Rangers on September 4, 1984. Jenny Lumet (born February 2, 1967) is an American actress and screenwriter. She is the daughter of director Sidney Lumet and granddaughter of Lena Horne. Lumet wrote the original screenplay of the 2008 Jonathan Demme film '' Rachel Getting Married'' and had worked on several ''Star Trek'' series. Early life and education Lumet was born on February 2, 1967, in New York City. She is the second daughter born to director Sidney Lumet and journalist/writer Gail Buckley (Gail Buckley Jones).
