The Faroese People's Party – Radical Self-Government ( fo, Hin føroyski fólkaflokkurin – radikalt sjálvstýri) is a pro-Faroese independence Conservatism, conservative and Conservative liberalism, conservative-liberal List of political parties on the Faroe Islands, political party on the Faroe Islands led by Beinir Johannesen. One of the four major parties, it has had eight seats in the Løgting since the 2019 Faroese general election, 2019 election, making it the joint-largest party, but it has neither of the Faroes' seats in the Folketing. Founded in 1939 as a split from the Self-Government Party (Faroe Islands), Self-Government Party and by former members of the Business Party (Faroe Islands), Business Party (Vinnuflokkurin), the party has traditionally supported greater autonomy for the Faroe Islands. Hákun Djurhuus
Hákun Djurhuus (11 December 1908 – 22 September 1987) was the prime minister of the Faroe Islands from 1963 to 1967. He was born in Tórshavn. He was first elected to the Løgting in 1946 and was its speaker 1950–1951. He was member of the town council of Klaksvík from 1946 to 1951, mayor of Klaksvík from 1950 to 1951. He was chairman of the Peoples Party (Fólkaflokkurin) from 1951 to 1980. He was minister from 1951 to 1954 and Prime Minister from 1963 to 1967. He was member of the Folketing The Folketing ( da, Folketinget, ; ), also known as the Parliament of Denmark or the Danish Parliament in English, is the unicameral national legislature ( parliament) of the Kingdom of Denmark—Denmark proper together with the Faroe Islands ..., elected as one of two Faroese members in the periods 1957–1960 and 1968–1973.
