Frohburg
Frohburg is a town in the Leipzig district, in Saxony, Germany. It is situated 11 km northeast of Altenburg, and 34 km southeast of Leipzig. It includes the village of Flößberg and the town Kohren-Sahlis. History Frohburg castle was first mentioned in documents at the end of the 10th century, the first documentary mention of the settlement itself dates from 1198, and in 1233 it is known as a town ('' oppidum''), although it had no explicit town privileges and was directly ruled by the lord of the castle, which at this time was the burgrave of Altenburg. Town privileges were only awarded to Frohburg in 1831, and the first mayor elected three years later. Until the mid-16th century, Frohburg was part of '' Pflege'' Altenburg, and from then on until 1856 of Amt Borna. Benndorf is a district of the town Frohburg in the Landkreis Leipzig district of Saxony, Germany. The former independent municipality became a district of Frohburg on 1 January 1997. Since 1948, the former independent municipality Bubendorf became part of Benndorf. Geography and traffic Location The village is situated in the valley of the Wyhra river 2 km north of Frohburg and 7 km southeast of Borna. Benndorf is 30 km south of Leipzig. HASAG
HASAG (also known as Hugo Schneider AG, or by its original name in german: Hugo Schneider Aktiengesellschaft Metallwarenfabrik) was a German metal goods manufacturer founded in 1863. Based in Leipzig, it grew from a small business making lamps and other small metal products by hand into a large factory and publicly traded company that sold its wares in several countries. During the Second World War, Hasag became a Nazi arms-manufacturing conglomerate with dozens of factories across German-occupied Europe using slave labour on a massive scale. Tens of thousands of Jews from Poland, and other prisoners, died producing munition for Hasag. It began making armaments during the First World War, a decision that ultimately increased the company's profitability. The loss of military business after the war resulted in dropping sales. Otto Nuschke
Otto Nuschke (23 February 1883 – 27 December 1957) was a German politician. Nuschke was born in Frohburg in the Kingdom of Saxony. In 1910 he was elected General Secretary of the liberal Progressive People's Party (''Fortschrittliche Volkspartei'') of Kassel. In the same year he became chief editor of the Berliner Tageblatt and in 1915 co-editor of the ''Berliner Volkszeitung''. Nuschke soon joined the Liberal Union (Freisinnige Vereinigung), left-wing liberal organisation, and became its general secretary of Kassel in 1906. As this group fused with other left-liberal organisations (in 1910) to form the Progressive People's Party, Nuschke became the general secretary of the new party in Kassel. Leipzig (official name: ''Landkreis Leipzig'') is a district ('' Kreis'') in the Free State of Saxony, Germany. It is named after the city Leipzig, which is partly surrounded by the district, but not part of it. It borders (from the west and clockwise) the state Saxony-Anhalt, the urban district Leipzig, the districts Nordsachsen and Mittelsachsen, and the state Thuringia.
