Fred M. Cass
Frederick McIntosh Cass Queen's Counsel, Q.C., Canadian Forces' Decoration, C.D. ( August 5, 1913 – November 25, 2000) was a Canadian politician who served as both Attorney-General of Ontario and Speaker of the Legislative Assembly of Ontario, Speaker of the Legislative Assembly. He served as a Progressive Conservative Party of Ontario, Progressive Conservative Member of Provincial Parliament (Ontario), Member of Provincial Parliament from 1955 until his retirement in 1971. Cass served in the Canadian Army during the Second World War from 1941 to 1945. Background Born in Chesterville, Ontario, Cass was the older son of William Joseph Mavety Cass and Agnes Isabel (McIntosh) Cass, whose great-grandfathers were John McIntosh (farmer), John McIntosh, of apple fame, and John Cook (Upper Canada politician), John Cook. A Member of Provincial Parliament (MPP) is an elected member of the Legislative Assembly of Ontario, Legislative Assembly of the Canadian province of Ontario. Elsewhere in Canada, the titular designation "Member of Provincial Parliament" has also been used to refer to members of the Legislative Assembly of Lower Canada from 1791 to 1838, and to members of the Legislative Assembly of Quebec from 1955 to 1968. Before the adoption of this resolution, members had no fixed designation.
