Georges Sadoul
Georges Sadoul (4 February 1904 – 13 October 1967) was a French film critic, journalist and cinema writer. He is known for writing encyclopedias of film and filmmakers, many of which have been translated into English. Biography Sadoul was born in Nancy. He was trained at the Sorbonne and the IDHEC, a French cinema school. His father, Charles Sadoul, was a well-known ethnologist. At the age of 19, a student in Nancy, he collaborated with ''L'Est Républicain'' and founded the Nancy-Paris Committee. The objective of this committee is to allow the population of Nancy to meet Parisian productions and artists. He notably brought there Jean Epstein, Henry Prunières, André Lurçat, Jacques Rivière, Jacques Copeau and André Lhote. Once a surrealist, he became a member of the French Communist Party in 1932. Helmut Dietl
Helmut Dietl (; 22 June 1944 – 30 March 2015) was a German film director and author from Bad Wiessee. Work After leaving grammar school in 1958, Dietl completed a degree in theatre studies and history of art. He then became head of photography and later assistant director to the Munich Kammerspiele theatre. He first achieved directorial success with the TV series '' Monaco Franze'', eventually moving on to create several notable films with the aid of Patrick Süskind's writing. In 1998, he was a member of the judging panel at the 48th Berlin International Film Festival. He died in Munich on 30 March 2015. Georg Tressler
Georg Tressler (January 25, 1917 – January 6, 2007) was a Vienna-born German film actor and film director. Also known as George Tressler, Hans Tressler, Hans Dressler, Hans Georg Keil and Hans Sternbeck (per IMDb). The son of actor Otto Tressler, he began his acting career in the 1930s. George Tressler was drafted into the German army during World War II and served on the Russian Front. He became ill and was released from the service and returned to Vienna. In the immediated post-war period Tressler was employed making films to help his Austrian compatriots better understand how to benefit from US Marshall Plan aid. Plot summary The German economic boom of the late 1970s led to an increase of land speculation; taking advantage of this, farmer Josef Hartinger makes a fortune selling his land, and gives up farming, living on the millions he'd earned. Deciding to help his children, he buys out their livelihoods: younger son Martin becomes a beverage distributor, whilst daughter Monica becomes a hairdresser with her own salon. His oldest son, Andreas, however, is a farmer, through and through, and, without any land to farm, he emigrates to Canada. Without Andreas's knowledge, however, his father buys him a farm. Michael Verhoeven
Michael Verhoeven (born 13 July 1938) is a German film director. Life and work Verhoeven is the son of the German film director Paul Verhoeven (not to be confused with the Dutch film director Paul Verhoeven). He married actress Senta Berger in 1966; their sons are actor-director Simon Verhoeven (born 1972) and actor Luca Verhoeven (born 1979). Together, the couple have a production company to make films.
