Fotopedia
Fotopedia was a photo encyclopedia that, as of August 2011, had generated more than 51,000 pages and linked to over 755,000 photos. Fotopedia was launched in June 2009 by five former Apple employees: Jean-Marie Hullot, Bertrand Guiheneuf, Manuel Colom, Sébastien Maury and Olivier Gutknecht. Members could create photo-driven articles which include Wikipedia and Google Maps information. They were able to add a limited number of photos per day resulting in a high quality selection of photos. The range of topics varied widely from precise locations, music bands or species to countries and famous people. As well as taking part in the encyclopedia, professional and amateur photographers on Fotopedia could create albums to display their works, use Wikipedia articles to add context and to advertise popular albums. Jean-Marie Hullot
Jean-Marie Hullot (February 16, 1954 – June 17, 2019) was a French computer scientist and programmer who authored important programs for the original Macintosh, NeXTSTEP and Mac OS X platforms. These include the SOS Interface for the Mac, which later became Interface Builder for NeXTSTEP (1985), and later still evolved into an important part of Mac OS X. He also led the iCal and iSync development teams for Mac OS X (2002). In 1981, Jean-Marie Hullot received a Ph.D. in computer science from the University of Paris at Orsay, where his adviser was Gérard Huet. He was a researcher at INRIA from 1979 to 1985, when he joined NeXT. In 1996 he co-founded RealNames, a URL translation service which closed in 2002. is a Japanese entrepreneur and venture capitalist. He is a former director of the MIT Media Lab, former professor of the practice of media arts and sciences at MIT, and a former visiting professor of practice at the Harvard Law School. Image sharing, or photo sharing, is the publishing or transfer of digital photos online. Image sharing websites offer services such as uploading, hosting, managing and sharing of photos (publicly or privately). This function is provided through both websites and applications that facilitate the upload and display of images. Archive Team is a group dedicated to digital preservation and web archiving that was co-founded by Jason Scott in 2009. Its primary focus is the copying and preservation of content housed by at-risk online services. Some of its projects include the partial preservation of GeoCities, Yahoo! Video, Google Video, Splinder, Friendster, FortuneCity, TwitPic, SoundCloud, and the "Aaron Swartz Memorial JSTOR Liberator".
