Forrest Chase
Forrest Chase is a major shopping centre in Perth, Western Australia located in Forrest Place. A Myer store serves as its main anchor and largest tenant. The centre also contains a Woolworths supermarket and other shops. The western portion of the structure sits on the site of the former Padbury Buildings on the eastern side of Forrest Place. The site also formerly contained the Perth Boans department store before it made way for the current centre in 1986. The centre was redeveloped between 2017 and 2019. Transport The centre connects with major pedestrian malls such as Carillon City via elevated walkways. There is no direct vehicular transport to the location, although Wellington Street comes the closest. Perth
Perth is the capital and largest city of the Australian state of Western Australia. A shopping mall (or simply mall) is a North American term for a large indoor shopping center, usually anchored by department stores. Forrest Place
Forrest Place is a pedestrianised square located within the CBD of Perth, Western Australia. The street was created in 1923, and has a history of being a focal point for significant political meetings and demonstrations. Description Forrest Place connects Perth Railway Station on Wellington Street with the Murray Street Mall, outside the Carillon City shopping centre. It is long, and is paved and landscaped as a pedestrian mall, with seating, public artwork, and trees. Padbury Buildings is the name for a range of existing and former structures found in various localities in Western Australia. The Padbury family, mainly Walter Padbury, had a range of buildings, some of which now are heritage listed. Boans
Boans was a department store chain that operated in Perth, Western Australia between from the late 19th century to the late 20th century. It was located between Wellington Street and Murray Street and had the Padbury Buildings between it and Forrest Place. The store was founded by Harry Boan and his brother Benjamin who both came to Perth in 1895 from Broken Hill in western New South Wales. Harry and another brother, Ernest, had previously established a successful drapery known as "Boan Bros. Ltd." in that town. City store The brothers arrived in Perth in mid-1895 when Harry was 34, and purchased two blocks facing Wellington Street and the Perth railway station, at the edge of a potato swamp. Carillon City is a major Australian shopping centre, located in Perth. It is located in the middle of the Perth main retail precinct between the Hay and Murray Street malls, at the southern end of Forrest Place. It is linked to St Georges Terrace by way of access through Trinity Arcade and an arcade under Hay Street Mall. Walkways and a pedestrian overpass connects the Cultural Centre, public carparks, the rail and bus terminal with Carillon City. the centre is undergoing redevelopment, involving demolition of the existing centre. Wellington Street is the northernmost of the four primary east-west streets in the central business district of Perth, Western Australia. It is long, stretching from Plain Street in East Perth to Thomas Street in West Perth. St Georges Terrace
St Georges Terrace (colloquially known as "The Terrace") is the main street in the city of Perth, Western Australia. It runs parallel to the Swan River and forms the major arterial road through the central business district. Its western end is marked by the Barracks Arch near Parliament House across the Mitchell Freeway; the eastern end joins Adelaide Terrace at the intersection with Victoria Avenue. Naming St Georges Terrace was named after St George's Cathedral. Originally, houses occupied by clergy of the cathedral and lay clerks of the cathedral choir constituted a substantial portion of the Terrace. Perth Busport is an underground bus station, located underneath Wellington Street, Perth, Western Australia. It was officially opened by then Premier of Western Australia Colin Barnett and then Minister for Transport Dean Nalder on 13 July 2016. Description Perth Busport is located underground, west of Perth railway station, between Wellington, Roe Street and Milligan streets. There are two bus access points, from Wellington Street and Milligan Street, and three passenger entrances, at Yagan Square, Queen Street, and King Street. The underground lounge is air-conditioned, contains 160 seats, two kiosks, and digital screens displaying updated departure information.
