Football At The 1960 Summer Olympics
The football tournament at the 1960 Summer Olympics was held from 26 August to 10 September in 1960 throughout Italy. The tournament featured 16 men's national teams from four continental confederations. The 16 teams were drawn into four groups of four and each group played a round-robin tournament. At the end of the group stage, the first-ranked teams of each group advanced to the semi-finals, and culminating with the gold medal match in Rome on 10 September 1960. Milan Galić
Milan Galić ( sr-Cyrl, Милан Галић, ; 8 March 1938 – 13 September 2014) was a Yugoslav and Serbian professional footballer who played as a striker. He was part of the Yugoslav squad that won gold at the 1960 Summer Olympics. During his active career, Galić played for four clubs, namely Proleter Zrenjanin, Partizan, Standard Liège and Reims. He also represented Yugoslavia internationally, earning 51 caps and scoring 37 goals, being the second-highest scorer in the history of the national team, only behind Stjepan Bobek with 38. After finishing his playing career, Galić was employed at the Football Association of Yugoslavia. Club career Partizan After starting out with Proleter Zrenjanin, Galić was transferred to Partizan in the 1958–59 campaign. Stadio Comunale Giovanni Berta
Stadio (literally, ''Stadium'') is an Italian pop rock band formed in 1977. The members are Giovanni Pezzoli (drums), Roberto Drovandi (bass guitar), Andrea Fornili (guitar), and Gaetano Curreri (vocals and keyboard). Formation and early recordings The group had a long-standing arrangement as an accompanying band to Lucio Dalla, a Bologna-born singer. Stadio had its first notable public appearance in the mid-1970s, when the group appeared on Lucio Dalla's 1975 collaborative album with Roberto Roversi, '' Anidride Solforosa'' (Italian for "sulfur dioxide"). The members of Stadio on this album were Giovanni Pezzoli playing the drums, Marco Nanni playing the bass and Fabio Liberators playing the keyboard. The same musicians were featured on Dalla's 1977 album '' Com'è profondo il mare'' (How deep is the sea?). Vladimir Durković
Vladimir Durković (Serbian Cyrillic: Владимир Дурковић; 6 November 1937 – 22 June 1972) was a Serbian football defender. He was part of the Yugoslav squad that won gold at the 1960 Summer Olympics. Career Club career Durković played with Red Star Belgrade until he was 28 at which point he moved abroad and made a name for himself with AS Saint-Étienne, winning three French League titles and the Coupe de France twice. International career Capped 50 times by Yugoslavia between 1959 and 1966, Durković excelled as a 22-year-old at the first UEFA European Championship, offering defensive solidity and attacking penetration at right-back. Although Yugoslavia finished second in France, Durković won a gold medal at the Rome Olympics the following September. He also wore the number two shirt at the 1962 FIFA World Cup in Chile and was an ever-present as Yugoslavia eliminated former winners Uruguay and West Germany and finished fourth. Zvonko Bego
Zvonko Bego (19 December 1940 – 13 August 2018) was a Yugoslav footballer. He spent most of his career with Croatian side Hajduk Split. Club career Bego made his debut for Hajduk in an early 1957 cup match against Lokomotiva and scored 173 goals in 375 games for the club. He moved abroad to play for Bayern Munich, FC Twente, Bayer Leverkusen and Austria Salzburg before returning to Yugoslavia in 1971 and finish his career at Junak Sinj and Uskok Klis. International career He made his debut for Yugoslavia in a November 1961 friendly match against Austria and earned a total of 6 caps scoring 2 goals. His final international was a December 1961 friendly against Israel. Andrija Anković
Andrija Anković (16 July 1937 – 28 April 1980) was a Croatian footballer and manager. Biography Anković was born in Gabela (at the time Kingdom of Yugoslavia) and started his career with GOŠK Gabela before moving to NK Neretva Metković. He later played for top Croatian side Hajduk Split in the Yugoslavian First League. He played 326 matches and scored 250 goals for Hajduk, becoming one of the club's legends. Finally, he played for German club 1. FC Kaiserslautern. In 1960, Anković was a member of the Yugoslavian team which won gold at the Rome Olympics. He made his debut for Yugoslavia as a second half substitute in a January 1960 friendly match away against Morocco, scoring their fifth goal in the process, and earned a total of 8 caps scoring 1 goal. His final international was a June 1962 FIFA World Cup match against Colombia. Pescara (; nap, label= Abruzzese, Pescàrë; nap, label= Pescarese, Piscàrë) is the capital city of the Province of Pescara, in the Abruzzo region of Italy.
