State Road 688 (SR 688) is an east–west route in Pinellas County running from Indian Rocks Beach to northeastern St. Petersburg, Florida, where it merges onto Interstate 275 (I-275). Route description The highway changes its name as it heads east across Pinellas County. From Gulf Boulevard in Indian Rocks Beach, it runs along 5th Avenue and crosses the bridge over the Intracoastal Waterway as the Indian Rocks Causeway. Once off the causeway, it becomes Walsingham Road and runs on to the intersection of Walsingham and Ulmerton Roads. Walsingham continues east, but State Road 688 loops north and then east on Ulmerton Road. It skirts Largo before crossing U.S. Route 19 (US 19) and then merges briefly with Roosevelt Boulevard ( SR 686). It continues into northeast St. Petersburg and its traffic merges with I-275. Indian Rocks Beach, or IRB, is a city in Pinellas County, Florida, United States. The population was 4,286 at the 2018 census. Indian Rocks Beach is part of the Tampa-St. Petersburg-Clearwater, FL Metropolitan Statistical Area. State Road 93 (SR 93) is the unsigned Florida Department of Transportation designation for most of Interstate 75 (I-75) in Florida. It runs from the Georgia state line to the interchange with the Palmetto Expressway and the Gratigny Parkway in Miami Lakes near the Opa-locka, Florida, Airport. In the Tampa- St. Petersburg area, SR 93 is the hidden FDOT designation of Interstate 275 as it traverses Tampa Bay along the Sunshine Skyway Bridge, crosses Old Tampa Bay on the Howard Frankland Bridge before intersecting with Interstate 4 (unsigned SR 400) at the historical southern terminus of I-75 before continuing northward to rejoin the parent route near Lutz. State Road 55 (SR 55) is mainly the internal or secret designation of U.S. Route 19 through Florida, although it has appeared on maps and atlases on several occasions. State Road 55 originates at the Georgia state line north of Ashville, and ends at SR 684 in Bradenton. North of Perry, it is the secret route for US 221, continuing north into Georgia as Georgia State Route 76. South of Memphis, it is a secret designation for US 41; it is also a secret designation for US 301 in the Bradenton - Palmetto area, along a segment co-signed with US 41. Very little evidence of SR 55's existence can be found, except in Levy, Dixie, and Taylor counties. In Dixie County, for example, there's a CR 55A in Old Town and Fanning Springs. U.S. Route 19 Alternate is a former section of U.S. Route 19 from St. Petersburg, Florida to Holiday. Beginning at the intersection of 4th Street N (US 92 and SR 687 and 5th Avenue N in St. Petersburg, Florida, it runs west of US 19 near the Gulf coast passing through the cities of Seminole, Clearwater, Dunedin and Tarpon Springs before ending at US 19 in Holiday, Pasco County, Florida. It is also the unsigned State Road 595 throughout the entire route. It also runs along much of the Pinellas Trail. Route description History Alternate US 19 was established in 1951 when US 19 was realigned from St. Petersburg through Holiday.
