Fleet Readiness Center East
Fleet Readiness Center East (FRCE) is a US Navy aviation repair and maintenance facility located in Havelock, North Carolina on Marine Corps Air Station Cherry Point. FRC East is one of nine main subsidiaries of the Navy's Fleet Readiness Center Command History FRC East began operations during World War II as the Assembly and Repair Department(A&R) at MCAS Cherry Point, N.C. The A&R covered more than 500,000 square feet when it opened Dec. 16, 1943. During the 1960s, FRC East greatly expanded floor space to accommodate more room for repairing aircraft. In April 1967 it became known as the Naval Air Rework Facility, a separate command under the Naval Air Systems Command. Subsequently, the facility was renamed Naval Aviation Depot Cherry Point in March 1987. Fleet Readiness Center Mid-Atlantic (FRCMA) is an American naval aviation maintenance and repair facility headquartered on board NAS Oceana. It is one of 6 main subsidiaries of the Fleet Readiness Centers. FRCMA currently has nearly 2,500 sailors, marines and civilian workers. Fleet Readiness Center Northwest (FRCNW) is located in Oak Harbor, Washington and is part of Naval Air Station Whidbey Island. Although originally named Aircraft Intermediate Maintenance Detachment and established in 1959, it was changed on October 10, 2008 and is a subsidiary of the Navy's Fleet Readiness Center Command. Responsibility The command is tasked with supporting 13 EA-18G, 8 P-3/ EP-3 squadrons, 11 aircraft carriers, and 1 C-40 squadron by maintaining and repairing equipment that is not suitable to complete at the organization level with the typical manning and capability.
