Fernando Trueba
Fernando Rodríguez Trueba (born 18 January 1955), known as Fernando Trueba, is a Spanish book editor, screenwriter, film director and producer. Between 1974 and 1979, he worked as a film critic for Spain's leading daily newspaper ''El País''. In 1980, he founded the monthly film magazine ''Casablanca'', which he edited and directed during its first two years. He is the author of ''Diccionario'' (Planeta 1997, Plot 2004, Galaxia Guttenberg 2006) and the editor of ''Diccionario del Jazz Latino'' (SGAE, 1998). Among other awards, he has won the Oscar for Best Foreign Language Film with ''Belle Époque'' in 1994, the Goya Award as Best Director three times and a Silver Bear for ''Year of Enlightment'' at the 37th Berlin International Film Festival. 49th Berlin International Film Festival
The 49th annual Berlin International Film Festival was held from 10 to 21 February 1999. The festival opened with '' Aimée & Jaguar'' by Max Färberböck. The Golden Bear was awarded to Canadian-American film '' The Thin Red Line'' directed by Terrence Malick. The retrospective dedicated to Austrian-American theatre and film director Otto Preminger was shown at the festival. 70 mm version of Preminger's 1959 musical film ''Porgy and Bess'' served as the closing night film. Starring Penélope Cruz, Antonio Resines, Neus Asensi, Ana Belén, Javier Cámara, Chino Darín, Loles León, Arturo Ripstein, Jorge Sanz, Rosa Maria Sardà, Santiago Segura, Clive Revill, Cary Elwes and Mandy Patinkin. Francisco Javier Errando Mariscal (born 9 February 1950) better known as Javier Mariscal is a Spanish artist and designer whose work has spanned a wide range of mediums, ranging from painting and sculpture to interior design and landscaping. He was born in February 1950 in the city of Valencia, Spain, into a family of eleven brothers and sisters. Since 1970, he has been living and working in Barcelona. Career Mariscal's artistic language is synthetic, with few strokes and a great deal of expressiveness. He started studying at Colegio El Pilar in Valencia.
