Ferdinando Tacconi
Ferdinando Tacconi (December 27, 1922 – May 11, 2006) was an Italian comics artist. Tacconi was born in Milan. He earned a degree in Applied Arts from Castello Sforzesco. After collaborating as an illustrator to the magazines ''Grazia'' and ''Confidenze'', Tacconi entered the comics field after World War II, debuting with the comic series ''Sciuscià'' and later working on a number of comics in Italy, France, and the United Kingdom. For Junior Express, he worked on Journey into Space and Jeff Hawke. His main works included '' Gli Aristocratici'', which he co-created with Alfredo Castelli, ''L'uomo del Deserto'', ''L'uomo di Rangoon'', ''Dylan Dog'' and ''Nick Raider''. ''Gli Aristocratici'' ("''The Aristocrats''") is an Italian comic strip series created in 1973 by Alfredo Castelli and Ferdinando Tacconi. Nick Raider is a fictional comic detective whose series was published from 1988 to 2005 by Sergio Bonelli Editore in Italy. Graphically inspired by the American actor Robert Mitchum, it was created by writer Claudio Nizzi and artist Giampiero Casertano. ''Dylan Dog'' is an Italian horror comics series created by Tiziano Sclavi and published by Sergio Bonelli Editore since 1986. The series features the eponymous character, a paranormal investigator who takes on cases involving supernatural elements such as ghosts, demons, vampires, undeads, werewolves and other creatures, but also horrifying sociopathic criminals and serial killers. It defies the whole preceding horror tradition with a vein of surrealism and an anti-bourgeois rhetoric. Dylan is supported mainly by his trusty sidekick Groucho (a Groucho Marx lookalike) who adds humour to this grisly genre and Dylan's sombre temperament. Alfredo Castelli (born 26 June 1947) is an Italian comic book artist and writer. Biography Born in Milan, Castelli began his comic book career at an early age, creating the strip '' Scheletrino'', a humor series for Italian comic book ''Diabolik'', when he was only 16 years old. In 1966, with Paolo Sala, he created ''Comics Club 104'', the first Italian fanzine dedicated to comics. A year later Castelli started writing scripts for several Italian comic books, including '' Pedrito el Drito'' and ''Piccola Eva'' published by Universo, '' Cucciolo'' and '' Tiramolla'' for Edizioni Alpe, and '' Topolino'' for Mondadori. ''Jeff Hawke'' was a British science fiction comic strip created by Sydney Jordan. It was published in the ''Daily Express'' from 15 February 1955 to 18 April 1974, by which point Jordan had "written or co-written and drawn 6,474 episodes." Despite its obscurity in English-speaking countries, it is often regarded as one of the most important science fiction comics ever released, especially in Italy and Scandinavian countries. Publication history Sydney Jordan was a graduate of the Aeronautical Technical School in Reading, Berkshire, Reading. ''Journey Into Space'' is a BBC Radio science fiction programme written by BBC producer Charles Chilton. It was the last UK radio programme to attract a bigger evening audience than television. Originally, four series were produced (the fourth was a remake of the first), which was translated into 17 languages (including Hindi, Turkish and Dutch) and broadcast in countries worldwide (including Australia, the Netherlands, New Zealand and The United States).
