Feminist Art Gallery
Feminist Art Gallery (or FAG) is an art gallery and collective based in Toronto, Ontario, described as a “geographical footprint” co-founded by artists Allyson Mitchell and Deirdre Logue in 2010. History Allyson Mitchell and Deirdre Logue founded the Feminist Art Gallery (FAG) in 2010." FAG provides a space for art exhibitions, and opportunities for artists who are emerging, and such as queer artists and People of color. The gallery operates alternatively to traditional galleries in the sense that artists do not submit proposals, and Mitchell and Logue act as "feral curators", which means they look to friends and peers to suggest which artists to show. The art is also not for sale, rather the artists receive a fee from private donations raised through its "matronage program". Allyson Mitchell
Allyson Mitchell is a Toronto-based maximalist artist, working predominantly in sculpture, installation and film. Her practice melds feminism and pop culture to trouble contemporary representations of women, sexuality and the body largely through the use of reclaimed textile and abandoned craft. Throughout her career, Mitchell has critiqued socio-historical phobias of femininity, feminine bodies and colonial histories, as well as ventured into topics of consumption under capitalism, queer feelings, queer love, fat being, fatphobia, genital fears and cultural practices. Her work is rooted in a Deep Lez methodology, which merges lesbian feminism with contemporary queer politics. Deirdre Logue
Deirdre Logue (born 1964) is a Canadian video artist and arts administrator, based in Toronto, Ontario. Career Deirdre Logue studied at the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design (BFA) and Kent State University (MFA). She has been creating film and video work since the 1990s. Her work has been exhibited at Plug In ICA (Winnipeg), Open Space (Victoria), Neutral Ground (Regina), Oakville Galleries, Beyond/In Western New York 2007 ( Buffalo), the Berlin International Film Festival and ExiS Film Festival (Seoul). The Power Plant
The Power Plant Contemporary Art Gallery is a Canadian non-collecting public contemporary art gallery located at the heart of Toronto, Ontario at the Harbourfront Centre. It is a registered Canadian charitable organization supported by its members, sponsors, donors, and funding bodies at all levels of government.
