The Federation of International Bandy (FIB; french: Fédération internationale de bandy, russian: Международная федерация хоккея с мячом, sv, Internationella Bandyförbundet) is the international governing body for the sport of bandy, including the variant called rink bandy. The federation is headquartered in Söderhamn, Sweden. History Bandy as we know it today has been played since the later half of the 19th Century. Rules were set up in the 1890s by the National Bandy Association in England and by the corresponding body in Russia. The Ligue International de Hockey sur Glace (LIHG) was founded on 15 May 1908 at 34 Rue de Provence in Paris, France, at a time when bandy and ice hockey were seen as variants of the same game. Scandic Hotel Malmen
Scandic Hotel Malmen, commonly called Hotell Malmen or Malmen for short, is a hotel on Götgatan 49–51 in Södermalm, Stockholm, Sweden. The building has been graded by the Stockholm City Museum as having a particularly high cultural history value from the point of view of history, cultural history, the environment and the arts. History The hotel was built from 1948 to 1951 in place of the Stora Teatern which had been built in 1916 as one of Stockholm's largest film theatres. The hotel was one of the interesting commercial designs of the 1950s designed as modernist architecture. The building was built by Kommunal Hotell AB. Bandy Playing Rules
Bandy Playing Rules is the name of the rule book for bandy, edited by the Federation of International Bandy. The rule book is available online. The current book was adopted in September 2013. The rule book and the rules are overseen by the Rules and Referee Committee. History The first rules for bandy was developed and written down in the late 19th century in England, by Charles Goodman Tebbutt, and later on in Russia. The two rule books had some differences but were similar enough that the game can be seen as being the same. At the time, the rules of ice hockey were also more similar with the bandy rules than they are today. The English rules of bandy were adopted in Sweden, Finland and Norway, where bandy survived while it died out in England and continental Europe in the early 20th century. 2020 Bandy World Championship
The 2020 Bandy World Championship was to be an international sports tournament between men's national teams among bandy playing nations. It was to be the fortieth Bandy World Championship. While the Division B tournament was held from 1 to 6 March 2020, the Division A tournament was postponed a number of times and finally cancelled on 1 March 2022. The Division A tournament was supposed to be held from 29 March to 5 April 2020 but was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The Division A tournament was cancelled on 15 September 2020. The FIB later announced that the 2020 Division A tournament in Irkutsk would be finalised in October 2021, and the subsequent World Championship in Syktyvkar would be played in 2022. 2022 Women's Bandy World Championship
The 2022 tournament was originally to be held in Stockholm, and this was the logo created for it. The 2022 Women's Bandy World Championship was an international bandy tournament for women and the 11th (XI) Women's Bandy World Championship organized by the Federation of International Bandy (FIB). The event was contested from 23 to 27 March 2022 in Åby, Sweden. Due to the Russian invasion of Ukraine, Team Russia withdrew from the tournament and although the Ukraine women's national bandy team was scheduled to participate, they had to withdraw. Team Ukraine's appearance was meant to be the Ukrainian women's bandy world debut, almost a century after women's bandy teams were first recorded to have appeared in Kharkiv, Ukraine, in 1927. The Badminton World Federation (BWF) is the international governing body for the sport of badminton recognised by the International Olympic Committee (IOC). It was founded in 1934 as the International Badminton Federation (IBF) with nine member nations ( Canada, Denmark, England, France, Ireland, Netherlands, New Zealand, Scotland and Wales). The Women's Bandy World Championships is an international sports tournament for women and the premier international competition for women's bandy between bandy-playing nations. The tournament is administrated by the Federation of International Bandy. It is distinct from the Bandy World Cup Women which is a women's club competition, the Bandy World Cup which is a club competition for men, and from the Bandy World Championship which is the premier international bandy competition for men's teams.
