Fayetteville Marksmen
The Fayetteville Marksmen are a professional minor league ice hockey team based in Fayetteville, North Carolina. They currently play in the Southern Professional Hockey League (SPHL) and play their home games in the Crown Coliseum. The team, originally known as the Fayetteville force then the Cape Fear FireAntz, began play in the Atlantic Coast Hockey League in the 2002–03 season. After the league's collapse, they joined the South East Hockey League for the 2003–04 season and then what would become the SPHL in 2004 as the Fayetteville FireAntz. Since their inception, they have won the 2007 SPHL championship and made a number of playoff appearances. Due to the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Marksmen are one of several SPHL teams to not participate in the 2020–21 season. John Marks (ice Hockey)
John Garrison Marks (born March 22, 1948) is a Canadian former professional ice hockey player. He most recently worked as the head coach of the Fargo Force of the United States Hockey League. Career Marks spent his 657-game NHL career with the Chicago Black Hawks, recording 112 goals and 163 assists for 275 points, as well as accumulating 330 penalty minutes. From 1998 to 2006, he was the only head coach of the now-defunct Greenville Grrrowl of the ECHL. In 2002, he guided the South Carolina-based team to their only league championship in a four-game sweep of the Dayton Bombers; this was the first (and currently only) time an ECHL team has swept the Kelly Cup finals. Richard Todd Bidner (born July 5, 1961) is a Canadian retired ice hockey centre. Bidner was born in Petrolia, Ontario. Drafted in 1980 by the Washington Capitals, Bidner played a dozen games with the Capitals. He spent most of his playing career playing in Great Britain and played for their national team at the 1994 World Championship, Pool A. In August 2006 it was announced that Bidner will become the new assistant coach of the London Knights of the Ontario Hockey League. The Florida Seals were a minor league ice hockey franchise, a member of the Southern Professional Hockey League (SPHL). Originally based in Orlando, Florida, as the Orlando Seals, they later moved to Kissimmee, Florida, a suburb thirty miles south of Orlando in Osceola County. The Pensacola Ice Pilots were a professional ice hockey team located in Pensacola, Florida. The team was previously affiliated with the Tampa Bay Lightning, Toronto Maple Leafs, New York Islanders (2006–07), and the Chicago Blackhawks. They have also had a working agreement with the Houston Aeros of the AHL for the 04–05 season.
