Far From Home (Traffic Album)
''Far from Home'' is the eighth and final studio album by the rock band Traffic. It was recorded at a large house called Woodstock, outside Kilcoole to the south of Dublin, and mixed at the Chateau Miraval in Correns, southern France. The project began as a revival of the writing collaboration between Steve Winwood and Jim Capaldi, but soon blossomed into the first Traffic project since 1974. Recording The album was recorded in Woodstock, Kilcoole near Dublin, Ireland. Though the subsequent tour would feature a full band, this album features Winwood playing all of the instruments and singing all the vocals, with the exception of Capaldi's drums and backing vocals, Davy Spillane's Uilleann pipes on "Holy Ground", and recording engineer Mick Dolan's rhythm guitar on "Nowhere Is Their Freedom" and programming on the Akai S1000. Traffic were an English rock band formed in Birmingham in April 1967 by Steve Winwood, Jim Capaldi, Chris Wood and Dave Mason. Traffic Biography. AllMusic. They began as a psychedelic rock group and diversified their sound through the use of instruments such as keyboards (such as the Mellotron and harpsichord), sitar, and various reed instruments, and by incorporating jazz and improvisational techniques in their music. The band had early success in the UK with their debut album '' Mr. Fantasy'' and non-album singles "Paper Sun", "Hole in My Shoe", and "Here We Go Round the Mulberry Bush," Their self-titled 1968 album was their most successful in Britain and featured one of their most popular songs, the widely covered "Feelin' Alright?" Dave Mason left the band shortly after the album's release, as did Steve Winwood the following year when he joined the supergroup Blind Faith, and Traffic effectively disbanded. ''John Barleycorn Must Die'' is the fourth studio album by English rock band Traffic, released in 1970 as Island ILPS 9116 in the United Kingdom, United Artists UAS 5504 in the United States, and as Polydor 2334 013 in Canada. It marked the band's comeback after a brief disbandment, and peaked at number 5 on the ''Billboard'' 200, making it their highest-charting album in the US, and has been certified a gold record by the RIAA. In addition, the single "Empty Pages" spent eight weeks on the ''Billboard'' Hot 100, peaking at number 74. Douglas Brothers
Douglas Brothers is the photographic imprint of Andrew Douglas (10 August 1952) and Stuart Douglas (6 February 1962), British photographer/director siblings. Early life and education The Douglas Brothers grew up in Southend, Essex, UK. Andrew Douglas studied Fine Art at Cardiff and Sunderland Polytechnic Colleges. Their older sibling, Graeme Douglas, was guitarist/songwriter with new wave rock band Eddie And The Hot Rods. Andrew designed an album cover for the Hot Rods, and this led to photographing album covers for the groups The Jam and The Cure. In 1975, Andrew moved to London and began working as assistant to John Swannell and Lord Snowdon. In 1989, Andrew was joined by younger brother, Stuart, a graduate of Barking College of Art. The pair began working as a collaborative duo under the solitary photographic imprint The Douglas Brothers.
