History Technical faculty In the early 1940s, the State University in Varna, St. Cyril Slavyanobulgarski (Bulgarian: Държавния университет „Свети Кирил Славянобългарски“) had two faculties, Economics and Technology. These faculties formed the foundation of the Technical University of Varna and MEI-Varna. The city of Varna had expertise in areas such as shipbuilding, mechanics, and building auto-body parts.
