The Faculty of Dramatic Arts ( sr, Факултет драмских уметности, Fakultet dramskih umetnosti; abbreviated FDU) is a constituent institution of the University of Arts in Belgrade which focuses on education and research in the fields of film, theatre, dramaturgy, culture, radio, acting and medias. It was established in 1948, as the first faculty of this type in Yugoslavia. The building, built in the brutalist style, is located in the urban neighborhood of Novi Beograd. History The Faculty of Dramatic Arts was established in 1948 as the Academy of Theatre Arts. In 1950, the High Education School for Film Acting and Directing was merged into it, and in 1962, its name was changed to the Academy of Theatre, Film, Radio and Television. Bekim Fehmiu
Bekim Fehmiu (; ; 1 June 1936 – 15 June 2010) was a Yugoslavian theater and film actor of Albanian ethnicity. He was the first Eastern European actor to star in Hollywood during the Cold War. Biography Early life Fehmiu was born in Sarajevo, into an ethnic Albanian family originating from Gjakova, Kosovo. His father Ibrahim adopted his high-school nickname Fehmiu as a surname replacing the original Imer Halili. The family moved to Shkodër, Albania, where they spent three years, and in 1941 returned to Prizren where Bekim spent his childhood. Goran Marković
Goran Marković ( sr-cyr, Горан Марковић, ) (born 24 August 1946) is a Serbian film and theatre director, screenwriter, writer, and playwright. He has directed approximately 50 documentaries, 13 feature films, and 3 theatre plays. He has also written five books. Marković is one of the few directors from the former Yugoslavia credited with popularizing Yugoslav films, as well as achieving success domestically and internationally. Ana Lasić (born 8 January 1972 in Belgrade, Yugoslavia) is a Slovenian screenwriter and playwright of Serbian descent. Dušan Kovačević ( sr-Cyrl, Душан Ковачевић, ; born 12 July 1948) is a Serbian playwright, scriptwriter, film director and academic best known for his theatre plays and movie scripts. He also served as the ambassador of Serbia in Lisbon, Portugal. Dragan Jovanović ( sr-cyr, Драган Јовановић; born 4 October 1965) is a Serbian actor. Career Dragan graduated from the Faculty of Dramatic Arts in Belgrade in 1990. Čedomir "Čeda" Jovanović ( sr-cyr, Чедомир "Чеда" Јовановић, ; born 13 April 1971) is a Serbian politician and businessman. During the presidency of Slobodan Milošević in Serbia and Montenegro, Yugoslavia, Jovanović became one of the student leaders of the 1996–1997 protests in Serbia at the age of 25.
