FC SKVICH Minsk
FC SKVICH Minsk was a Belarusian football club based in Minsk, last playing in the Belarusian Second League. History The team was founded in late 2000 by travel company SKVICH, which had had investments in sport and football projects (such as their own football school) for several years. Before the start of their first season, after gaining support from Belarusian Railways, the team was renamed Lokomotiv Minsk. The team won the Second League in 2001 and finished 3rd in the First League the following year and was promoted to the Belarusian Premier League. Lokomotiv finished in the relegation zone of the table in three of their four seasons in the Premier League; twice they were promoted after only one season, until they got stuck in the First League following relegation in 2008. Lokomotiv Stadium is a multi-use stadium in Minsk, Belarus. It is currently used mostly for football matches. The stadium holds 1,500 spectators. History The stadium was actively used by Lokomotiv Minsk since club's debut season in 2001 and until 2008. The senior team used the ground through 2004. Since 2005, the stadium was not licensed to host Belarusian Premier League matches and became a home ground for Lokomotiv reserves instead, who used it until 2008. The stadium originally had natural grass and capacity for 950 spectators. Belarusian Second League is the third tier of professional football in Belarus. It was established in 1992. History and format A strict number of teams and competition format are not defined for the league. Before the start of each season the format of the league is adjusted depending on how many teams are willing to participate and able to fulfill licensing criteria. The Belarusian First League is the second tier of professional football in Belarus. It was created in 1992, following the Belarusian independence. The Belarusian Premier League or the Vyšejšaja Liha or the Vysheyshaya Liga ( be, Вышэйшая ліга, russian: Высшая лига, "Top League") is the top division of professional football in Belarus, and is organized by the Belarusian Football Federation. The number of teams in the competition has varied over the years from as high as 17 (1992–93 season) to as low as 11 (2012). As of 2016, the league included 16 teams. Each team plays every other team twice during the course of the season. At the end of the season, the two teams with the fewest points are automatically relegated to the Belarusian First League, while the third worst team plays a promotion-relegation playoff against the third best team from the second tier. 2002–03 Belarusian Cup
2002–03 Belarusian Cup was the twelfth season of the Belarusian annual football cup competition. Contrary to the league season, it is conducted in a fall-spring rhythm. The first games were played on 7 August 2002. Winners of the Cup qualified for the UEFA Cup qualifying round. First round 17 teams joined competition in this round. Six clubs from Second League were drawn against six clubs from First League. Another five First League teams ( Darida Minsk Raion, Naftan Novopolotsk, Kommunalnik Slonim, Torpedo-Kadino Mogilev, Khimik Svetlogorsk) advanced to the next round by drawing of lots. The rest of First and Second League teams did not participate in this edition of the Cup. All games were played on 7 August 2002.
