FC Aarau
FC Aarau is a Swiss football club based in Aarau. They play in the Swiss Challenge League, the second tier of Swiss football after being relegated from Swiss Super League. History FC Aarau was formed on 26 May 1902 by workers from a local brewery. The early days of the club were a success and they won the Swiss championship in 1911–12 and then again in 1913–14. The club spent 25 years, from 1907 to 1933, in the top league but were relegated to the lower league and were unable to return to the top flight for a number of decades. In the 1980–81 season the club were able to return to the top league in the Swiss football pyramid after a 3–1 victory over Vevey-Sports. They have stayed there ever since and in the 1992–93 season they won the Swiss National League A managed by Austrian Rolf Fringer. Stadion Brügglifeld
Stadion Brügglifeld is a multi-purpose stadium in Aarau, Switzerland. It is primarily used for football matches and is the home stadium of FC Aarau. The current capacity is 9,249 seats, which include 1499 covered seats. 1,187 covered seats are in the main stand and 312 additional seats are located in the smaller grandstand. The remainder of the seating capacity is an uncovered terracing area which has space for 7,750. Fans of away teams are seated behind one goal, to the right of the players' entrances. This section has space for 1,500 fans. The stadium opened on October 12, 1924, with a friendly match against local side FC Zürich. A new main stand was added in 1982 and a smaller grandstand was completed in the 1990s, along with a complete renovation of the standing areas. The stadium is in the Suhr municipality. Nuno Filipe da Silva (born 14 March 1994) is a Swiss professional football player who plays for FC Aarau in the Swiss Challenge League. Football career A youth product of Young Boys, he made his professional debut for his former youth club Breitenrain in the Swiss Promotion League, the third tier of Swiss football. On 23 July 2017, da Silva made his top-flight debut with Thun in the Swiss Super League, in a match against Sion. 2012–13 Swiss Challenge League
The 2012–13 Swiss Challenge League was the tenth season of the Swiss Challenge League, the second tier of the Swiss football league pyramid. It began on 14 July 2012 and ended on 2 June 2013. Teams 2011–12 Challenge League champions St. Gallen were promoted to the 2012–13 Super League. They weren't replaced by another team due to Neuchâtel Xamax being demoted to the 4th tier of Swiss football for financial irregularities. 2011–12 Challenge League runners-up Aarau had to compete in a promotion/relegation playoff against 9th-placed Super League team Sion and remained in the Challenge League after losing 3–1 on aggregate. Jeff Saibene (born 13 September 1968) is a Luxembourgish former professional footballer and manager of Swiss Challenge League club Neuchâtel Xamax. Personal life Saibene is a citizen of both Luxembourg and Switzerland and married with a Swiss wife. He is a fan of Hamburger SV. Gilbert Gress (born 17 December 1941) is a French football coach and a former player. He was the mentor of Arsène Wenger. Club career Gress was born in Strasbourg. He began his professional football career in the city of his birth with RC Strasbourg, where the fans soon nicknamed him the "angel of la Meinau" (''L'ange de la Meinau''; ''Engel von der Meinau'', Meinau is the stadium of the club). Ryszard Komornicki (born 14 August 1959) is a former Polish footballer who played as a winger or an attacking midfielder. He is currently the sporting director of GKS Tychy. Playing career Born in Ścinawa, Lower Silesia, Komornicki played for GKS Tychy and Górnik Zabrze in his country, winning four Ekstraklasa championships in a row with the latter club, then moved to Switzerland at the age of 30 where he represented FC Aarau, FC Wohlen and FC Kickers Luzern. He acted as player-coach to the last two teams, retiring at nearly 42. While at FC Aarau he was part of the side that won the Swiss national title in 1992–93. FC Baden is a Swiss football club based in Baden, Canton Aargau, which is a short distance from Zürich. It was founded in 1897.
