Íþróttafélagið Fylkir (, ) is a multi-sport club in Árbær, in the eastern part of Reykjavík, the capital of Iceland. It features departments in football, handball, volleyball, gymnastics and karate. Kit The Fylkir official home kit is combined of an orange jersey, black shorts and orange socks. The away kit is combined of a blue jersey and shorts and white socks. The original kit is combined of a white and blue shirt, white shorts and white socks (alternatively blue socks). History Fylkir was founded in 1967 on May 28 in a newly established suburb of Reykjavik, Árbær, by young and enthusiastic footballers who wanted to train and play football in their own neighbourhood. Finnur Kolbeinsson
Finnur Kolbeinsson (born 21 March 1972) is a retired Icelandic semi-professional football midfielder who made over 200 appearances for Fylkir. He also played in Malta and Belgium and was capped by Iceland at international level. Club career A midfielder, Finnur made 287 appearances and scored 36 goals across three spells for Fylkir in his native Iceland between 1989 and 2005. He won the Icelandic Cup and three 1. deild karla championships with the club. Earlier in his career he also played in Malta and Belgium for Hibernians and KSV Bornem respectively. International career Finnur won 15 caps and scored two goals for Iceland at youth level and won a single cap for the senior team, as a late substitute for Baldur Þór Bjarnason in a 1–0 friendly defeat to the United States on 31 August 1993. 2024 Besta Deild Karla
The 2024 Besta deild karla was the 113th season of top-flight Icelandic Football. It was the third season following the league's rebrand as ''Besta deild karla''. Teams The league consisted of twelve teams: the top ten teams from the previous season, and two teams promoted from the 1. deild karla. Víkingur Reykjavík entered the season as defending champions after winning their seventh title during the previous season. The promoted teams were 2023 1. deild karla champions ÍA (promoted after a single season absence), and play-off winners Vestri (promoted for the first time in their history). Ólafur Þórðarson (; born 22 August 1965) is an Icelandic former association football, footballer, who played as a midfielder. Ólafur is the former coach of Knattspyrnufélagið Víkingur, Vikingur Reykjavik. He is the brother of Teitur Thordarson, former manager of Estonia national football team, Estonia when Ólafur played against them with Iceland in 1996. The Besta deild karla () is a professional association football league in Iceland and the highest level of the Icelandic football league system. The competition was founded in 1912 as the Icelandic Championship. Because of the harsh winters in Iceland, it is generally played in the spring and summer (April to September). It is governed by the Football Association of Iceland (KSÍ) and has 12 teams. By the end of the 2022–23 season, UEFA ranked the league No. 48 in Europe. Gylfi Einarsson (born 27 October 1978, in Reykjavík) is a retired Icelandic football player. He played as a midfielder. Club career He started his career at Fylkir but moved to Norwegian club Lillestrøm SK in 2000. In the 2004 season he scored 13 goals in 26 matches. When his contract expired, he was snapped up by Leeds United, who had to wait until January 2005 to sign him. Gylfi, who was originally seen as a player in the Gary Speed mould, had never been more than a bit-player at Elland Road. This was mainly due to the injury problems that he sustained during his time at the club. On 6 September 2006, Gylfi had a hip operation to remove floating bone and was out of contention for the squad for eight weeks. David Elebert (born 21 March 1986) is an Irish former professional football player who is a coach at NIFL Premiership Ards His uncle Shaun played for Shamrock Rovers and Longford Town in the early 1990s and won the Football Association of Ireland International Schools Player of the Year for 1990/91. FK Rīga
FK Rīga was a Latvian football club based in Riga. They played in the Virslīga, the top division in Latvian football. They played their home games at Latvijas Universitātes Stadions. In 1999, its first year of existence, the club won the Latvian Cup, beating Skonto at the final. The club also played in the UEFA Cup.
