Full Sail (horse)
Full Sail (1934-1953) was a British Thoroughbred Horse racing, racehorse best known for being a leading sire in Argentina and major influence on South American breeding. Background Full Sail was bred and owned throughout his racing career by the Harry Primrose, 6th Earl of Rosebery, 6th Earl of Rosebery. He was foaled March 14, 1934. Fairway (horse), Fairway, Full Sail's sire, was a successful racehorse, having won many important stakes races and been a champion every year he raced. He also proved to be a successful sire, eventually leading the British general sire list four times. Fancy Free, Full Sail's dam, was a winner on the track, but was more notable for her breeding career. Fairway (horse)
Fairway (1925–1948) was a British Thoroughbred racehorse and Horse breeding#Terminology, sire. Fairway was the best horse of his generation in Britain at two, three and four years old, winning the St Leger Stakes, the Champion Stakes (twice) and the Eclipse Stakes. He retired as a five-year-old in 1930 and went on to become a successful and influential sire., pp.206 Background Fairway was bred in England by his owner Edward Stanley, 17th Earl of Derby, Lord Derby who also bred both of his parents. The Dosage Index is a mathematical figure used by breeders of Thoroughbred race horses, and sometimes by bettors handicapping horse races, to quantify a horse's ability, or inability, to negotiate the various distances at which horse races are run. It is calculated based on an analysis of the horse's pedigree. The Gran Premio Nacional, or Argentine Derby, is a Group 1 flat horse race in Argentina open to three-year-olds run over a distance of at Hipódromo Argentino de Palermo. It is the third race in the Argentinian Triple Crown and is one of the oldest and most influential races in Latin American racing. History The Gran Premio Nacional has been run at Hipódromo Argentino de Palermo annually since 1884. By 1923, the year the Uruguayan entry Sisley won, the purse was worth $40,000. In 1933, the favorite Hasta Hoy was attacked by masked men the night before the race. His attendant was held at gunpoint while Hasta Hoy's abdomen was stabbed. Hasta Hoy was left unable to run, leaving Requiebro and Támesis to dead heat for first in a field of ten, the smallest in the race up to that point. Seductor
Seductor (28 August 1943–1966?) was an Argentine thoroughbred racehorse and leading sire. Background Seductor was bred by Haras Argentino. Seductor was a light bay stallion with a heavy build. His hind legs were strongly built, especially his gaskins and quarters, and he had excellent shoulders. Racing career Seductor was considered one of the leading racehorses of his generation in Argentina. In the Gran Premio Jockey Club, Seductor was ridden by the famous jockey Irineo Leguisamo. In the stretch, he passed the front-running favorite and winner of the Polla de Potrillos, Remo, to win by three-quarters of a length in a final time of 2:03 for the 2000 meters. The Grande Prêmio Brasil is a Group 1 stakes race at Hipódromo da Gávea, at the city of Rio de Janeiro. The race is run left-handed on a turf track, for thoroughbreds three-years-old and up (3yo+), and is the main race in the Brazilian racing calendar. History The Grand Prêmio Brasil was first run on August 1, 1933, a Sunday.
