Friction (band)
is a Japanese rock band formed in 1978. They originally began in 1971 under the name , and are considered to be one of the pioneers of Japan's alternative rock scene. The group ended activities in 1996, but original member Reck reformed Friction in 2006 as a duo with drummer Tatsuya Nakamura. In September 2007, '' Rolling Stone Japan'' rated their debut album ''Atsureki'' at #21 on its list of the "100 Greatest Japanese Rock Albums of All Time". Punk rock (also known as simply punk) is a rock music genre that emerged in the mid-1970s. Tatsuya Nakamura
is a Japanese musician, drummer and actor. After performing with several prominent punk rock bands, Nakamura rose to fame as drummer of Blankey Jet City from 1987 to 2000. In 1996, he founded his solo project Losalios, where he performs every instrument. He is also a member of Friction, Mannish Boys with Kazuyoshi Saito, and Gokumontō Ikka. Biography Tatsuya Nakamura has been working as a drummer since he was a teenager, performing with various bands such as Oxydoll, Genbaku Onanies, The Stalin, The God, Masturbation, Nickey & The Warriors, and The Star Club. After coming up to Tokyo, he went wrong and hunted the leather jacket of motorcycle gangs around Kanto, and he competed with his fellows for the number. Alternative rock (also known as alternative music, alt-rock or simply alternative) is a category of rock music that evolved from the independent music underground of the 1970s. Alternative rock acts achieved mainstream success in the 1990s with the likes of the grunge subgenre in the United States, and the Britpop and shoegaze subgenres in the United Kingdom and Ireland. Teenage Jesus And The Jerks
Teenage Jesus and the Jerks were an American no wave band, based in New York City, who formed part of the city's no wave movement. Background Lydia Lunch met saxophonist James Chance at CBGB and moved into his two-room apartment. She started to combine her poetry with acoustic guitar and was spurred to start a band after seeing one of Mars' earlier performances. Lunch found guitarist Reck at CBGB and recruited him as a drummer, later moving him to bass. They formed a band called the Scabs and briefly added Jody Harris to their line-up. Lunch knew Bradley Field through Miriam Linna and convinced him to join in early 1977. The band put together a ten-minute set of very short songs. It released only a handful of singles. James Chance, also known as James White (born James Siegfried, April 20, 1953 – June 18, 2024), was an American saxophonist, keyboard player, and singer. James Chance and the Contortions (initially known simply as Contortions, a spin-off group is called James White and the Blacks) was a musical group led by saxophonist and vocalist James Chance, formed in 1977. They were a central act of New York City's downtown no wave music scene in the late 1970s, and were featured on the influential compilation ''No New York'' (1978). Recording history Their first recording, credited solely as ''Contortions'', was on the 1978 compilation, ''No New York'', produced by Brian Eno. The following year, two albums were issued almost simultaneously on ZE Records; '' Buy'' and '' Off White'' under the moniker James White and the Blacks. Ryuichi Sakamoto
was a Music of Japan, Japanese musician, composer, keyboardist, record producer, singer and actor. He pursued a diverse range of styles as a solo artist and as a member of the Synthesizer, synth-based band Yellow Magic Orchestra (YMO). With his YMO bandmates Haruomi Hosono and Yukihiro Takahashi, Sakamoto influenced and pioneered a number of electronic music genres. As a film score composer, Sakamoto won an Academy Awards, Academy Award (Oscar), British Academy Film Awards, BAFTA, Grammy Award, Grammy and two Golden Globe Awards.
