Frederik Otto Scheel
Frederik Otto Scheel (15 July 1748 – 22 May 1803) was a Norwegian military officer and civil servant. He was born in Christiania (now Oslo), Norway. He belonged to a noble family with strong military traditions. He was the son of Major General Hans Jacob Scheel (1714–74) and Catharine Christine Brügman (1725-1800). He served from 1762 to 1769 with the Sønnafjelske Dragonregiment and then with the Søndenfjelske Gevorbne Infanteriregiment. He served as County Governor of Stavanger Amt (now Rogaland county) from 1785 to 1799, and is particularly remembered for his contribution to road construction in the district. His efforts expanded the royal road from Stavanger and Jæren. Scheel had six children with his wife, Dorthe Falk Dedekam (1769-1796) who came from a merchant family in Arendal. Hans Jacob Scheel
Hans Jacob Scheel (23 August 1714, died 21 January 1774) was a Dano-Norwegian Major-General. Scheel was born in Copenhagen, Denmark. He was the son of Hans Heinrich Scheel (1668-1738) and Benedicte Dorothea Gjordsdatter (1684-1752). He served as Chamberlain at the Danish Royal Court. In 1752 he became a lieutenant colonel and Commandant of Fredrikstad Fortress from 1766 to 1774. Scheel was the first owner to make Frogner Manor (''Frogner hovedgård'') his permanent residence. He had purchased the estate in 1747. However, construction costs at Frogner exceeded his financial ability and he was forced him to sell the manor in 1760. He was married to Catharine Christine von Brüggemann (1725-1800) and was the father of Frederik Otto Scheel (1748–1803). Oslo
Oslo ( , , or ; sma, Oslove) is the capital and most populous city of Norway. It constitutes both a county and a municipality. Jæren
Jæren is a traditional district in Rogaland county, Norway. The other districts in Rogaland are Dalane, Ryfylke, and Haugalandet. Jæren is one of the 15 districts that comprise Western Norway. At about , Jæren is the largest flat lowland area in Norway, stretching from the municipality of Randaberg in the north to Hå in the south. is the largest Norwegian biographical encyclopedia. The first edition (NBL1) was issued between 1921 and 1983, including 19 volumes and 5,100 articles. Knut Helle
Knut Helle (19 December 1930 – 27 June 2015) was a Norwegian historian. A professor at the University of Bergen from 1973 to 2000, he specialized in the late medieval history of Norway. He has contributed to several large works. Early life, education and marriage He was born in Larvik as the son of school inspector Hermann Olai Helle (1893–1973) and teacher Berta Marie Malm (1906–1991). He was the older brother of politician Ingvar Lars Helle. The family moved to Hetland when Knut Helle was seventeen years old. He took the examen artium in Stavanger in 1949, and a teacher's education in Kristiansand in 1952. He studied philology in Oslo and Bergen, and graduated with the cand.philol. degree in 1957. Ulrich Wilhelm Koren
Ulrich Wilhelm Koren (1747–1826) was a Norwegian civil servant and politician. He served as the Bailiff of Sunnhordland and the governor of Stavanger county from 1799 until 1810. He was the son of skipper and merchant in Bergen Niels Koren (1718–1784) and Kirstine Theting (1727–1779). He was first married on 20 May 1779 to Elisabeth Catharina Hagemann (1755–1789), daughter of Lieutenant Colonel Baltzar Christian Hagemann and Anne Marie Schmidt. She died in 1789 and then on 17 March 1790, he married Maren Laurentze Stub (1773–1804), daughter of parish priest Paul Schonevig Stub and Alida Elisabeth Abel. Koren began working for a judge in Sunnhordland in 1763. In 1776, he became the acting judge for Sunnhordland while the judgeship was temporarily vacant.
