River City
''River City'' is a Scottish television soap opera created by Stephen Greenhorn which has been broadcast on BBC One Scotland since September 2002. Since 2019, the show has aired episodes a day earlier on the new BBC Scotland channel. Set in the fictional district of Shieldinch in the West End of Glasgow, the programme follows the stories of local residents and their families as they go about their daily lives. From its inception in 2002, the soap struggled to grasp viewers' approval, but would gradually see a rise in popularity. In 2023, the soap won 'Best Drama' at the Royal Television Society Scotland awards. History In 2000, BBC Scotland were in talks of launching its own serial drama for Scotland. Conor Brodie
The Brodie family are a fictional family from the soap opera ''River City'' that appeared on-screen from 2010 onwards. Creation On 1 September 2010, ATV News Network announced that a new mixed-race family would join ''River City''. The family were collectively introduced by the show’s executive producer Gaynor Holmes, and debuted on-screen throughout October and November. The family consists of patriarch Michael Brodie (Andy Clark); his son and daughter, Conor (Rian John Gordon) and Nicole (Holly Jack); his wife Leyla (Maryam Hamidi); her son Adeeb (Taryam Boyd); and Michael’s brothers Gabriel (Garry Sweeney) and Leo (Nick Rhys).
