Flint Firebirds
The Flint Firebirds are a major junior ice hockey team based in Flint, Michigan. The team plays home games at the Dort Financial Center, and operates as a member of the Ontario Hockey League (OHL). The team began play for the 2015–16 season. In September 2022, the Firebirds announced the Leamington Flyers as an affiliate. History The Firebirds trace their roots back to the 1990–91 season, when the Detroit Compuware Ambassadors were added as an expansion team in the OHL. Since then, the franchise has been the Detroit Junior Red Wings, the Detroit Whalers and the Plymouth Whalers. On January 14, 2015, it was announced that longtime Whalers owner Peter Karmanos had sold the team to IMS USA, Inc., with the intention to move the franchise to Flint and the Perani Arena. Eric Wellwood
Eric Wellwood (born March 6, 1990) is a Canadian former professional ice hockey player and current assistant coach for the Toronto Marlies in the AHL. He played parts of three National Hockey League (NHL) seasons with the Philadelphia Flyers. He is the younger brother of Kyle Wellwood. Playing career Wellwood was drafted by the Philadelphia Flyers in the sixth round (172nd overall) of the 2009 NHL Entry Draft. Ryan Oulahen
Ryan Oulahen (born March 26, 1985) is a Canadian former professional ice hockey player and current head coach for the North Bay Battalion of the Ontario Hockey League (OHL). Oulahen was drafted in the fifth round of the 2003 NHL Entry Draft by the Detroit Red Wings. He previously served as the head coach of the Flint Firebirds of the OHL. Playing career Junior Oulahen was drafted in the fourth-round of the 2001 OHL Priority Selection by the Brampton Battalion. On September 20, 2004, Oulahen was named captain of the Battalion. Oulahen spent three seasons with the Battalion, where he recorded 65 goals and 71 assists in 182 games. Belleville Bulls
The Belleville Bulls were a junior ice hockey team, founded in 1981 and based in Belleville, Ontario. The team played in the Eastern Division of the Eastern Conference of the Ontario Hockey League (OHL). The team relocated to Hamilton, Ontario, at the end of the 2014–15 OHL season. History The Belleville Bulls started in 1979 as a Junior Tier II team in the OHA. In their second season in 1980–81, the Bulls won the Tier II title, defeating the Guelph Platers in the league finals. George Burnett (ice Hockey)
George Burnett (born March 25, 1962) is the Sport management, general manager of the Guelph Storm of the Ontario Hockey League. Burnett previously played in the OHL with the London Knights, and later became a two-time Matt Leyden Trophy, OHL Coach of the Year and won an J. Ross Robertson Cup, OHL championship in his first tour of duty with the Guelph Storm.
