Flare Acoustic Arts League — A.K.A. Flare (band) — were an experimental pop band formed by guitarist Damian Costilla and singer LD Beghtol in New York in 1996 who made intense, darkly romantic, atmospheric songs deeply influenced by their love of The Smiths The Smiths were an English Rock music, rock band formed in Manchester in 1982, composed of Morrissey (vocals), Johnny Marr (guitar), Andy Rourke (bass) and Mike Joyce (musician), Mike Joyce (drums). Bushwick
Bushwick is a neighborhood in the northern part of the New York City borough of Brooklyn. It is bounded by the neighborhood of Ridgewood, Queens, to the northeast; Williamsburg to the northwest; the cemeteries of Highland Park to the southeast; and Bedford–Stuyvesant to the south and southwest. Love is an American rock music, rock band formed in Los Angeles in 1965. Led by Arthur Lee (musician), Arthur Lee, the band's primary songwriter, they were one of the first racially diverse American rock bands. The Smiths

LD Beghtol
LD Beghtol (13 December 1964 – 2020), also known as "Uncle LD", was an American musician, art director and writer. He was best known for participating in The Magnetic Fields' ''69 Love Songs'' and writing the illustrated companion book ''69 Love Songs, A Field Guide'' for the 33⅓, 33 1/3 book series. Beghtol was born in Fort Campbell, Kentucky. He was a founding member of the band Flare Acoustic Arts League, Flare—aka Flare Acoustic Arts League—and the death-pop outfit LD & the New Criticism, and was also in the collective, Moth Wranglers. In 2012 Beghtol formed LD&CO, with Scott Sosebee (Little Red Rocket) and others to record and play live; their debut single "Morgantown" was mixed by Kramer (musician), Kramer, but remains unreleased.
