Five Year Mission
Five Year Mission is a ''Star Trek'' tribute band from Indianapolis, Indiana. The band is composed of five Trekkies who aspire to write a song for every episode of the original ''Star Trek'' series. History The idea to write a song for every ''Star Trek'' episode was created by Mike Rittenhouse. He approached Noah Butler, whom he knew was a Star Trek fan, and the two decided to form a band to record the songs in-studio. They proceeded to find three additional band mates, Patrick O'Connor, Chris Spurgin, and Andy Fark, and four of them served as song writers, each selecting ''Star Trek'' episodes to write about for Year One. The band performed live for the first time, wearing ''Star Trek'' uniforms, at the Melody Inn in 2010. They were named "Best New Band" in Indianapolis that year. ''NUVO'' is a news website and formerly print alternative weekly serving the Indianapolis, Indiana, metropolitan area. Locally owned and operated, it features news stories, music, food, theatre and film reviews and also has sections for classifieds and other advertisements. Gen Con is the largest tabletop game convention in North America by both attendance and number of events. InConJunction
InConJunction is a fan-run, not-for-profit science fiction convention held during the first weekend in July in Indianapolis, Indiana. Past guests include Philip José Farmer, Frederik Pohl, Catherine Asaro, George R.R. Martin, Jerry Pournelle, Glen Cook, Mike Resnick, Timothy Zahn, and David Drake. The convention focuses on literature and literacy, but not to the exclusion of other areas of interest. Old National Centre
The Old National Centre, formerly known as the Murat Shrine Temple and the Murat Shrine Center, is located at North and New Jersey streets in Indianapolis, Indiana, and is owned by the Murat Shriners of the Ancient Arabic Order of the Nobles of the Mystic Shrine. The theater portion of the building is now known as the Murat Theatre at Old National Centre or simply the Murat Theatre and houses the oldest extant stage house in downtown Indianapolis.
