The Five Sisters (Danish language, Danish: De fem søstre) is a building and silo complex in Aarhus, Denmark which is an Industrial Heritage Sites of Denmark, Industrial Heritage Site of Denmark. It is situated on the ''Mellemarmen'' pier on the industrial section of the Port of Aarhus in Aarhus city center. The silos represent the transition from manual to mechanized labor during the second wave of industrialization in the early 20th century and are symptomatic of the relationship between agriculture, industry and transport in the city. Five Sisters is a historic neighborhood in the South End of Burlington, Vermont. There are approximately 300 homes on the neighborhood's five streets which were completed in the late 19th and early 20th century. According to local legend, these streets were named after the developer's five daughters, though some local historians can neither confirm nor deny such rumors. The Five Sisters neighborhood, located in Burlington’s South End, was developed between 1910 and the 1950s on former estate land. The development occurred in three phases north to south. In 1910-1911, developers Roland D. Batchelder and Frank H. Brown purchased the former Buell Estate and subdivided the land into uniform, rectangular lots on Hayward, Caroline, Charlotte, Catherine, and St. Paul streets. York Minster, York Minster's Five Sisters window contains the largest expanse of 13th century grisaille glass in the world. It was built c.1250–1260 and is located in the north wall of the north transept of York Minster. The window features in the Guinness World Records, Guinness Book of Records as "the largest ancient stained-glass window in the British Isles." The window was restored between 1923 and 1925 and rededicated to all the women of the British Empire who were killed in the line of duty during World War I. Five Sisters Zoo is a privately owned zoological park located in Polbeth, West Calder. The zoo was founded by Brian and Shirley Curran and originally operated as an attraction within their garden centre on the same site. The zoo officially opened in 2005 when it was granted a licence to display wild animals to the public. The zoo is named after the Five Sisters shale bings located to the north of West Calder.
