Finnhamn
Finnhamn is a natural harbour on the island of Stora Jolpan in the Stockholm archipelago. It is in Österåker Municipality and lies to the east of Ingmarsö and to the west of Husarö. The Stockholm Archipelago Trail is a hiking path network spanning approximately 270 kilometers (170 miles) across 20 islands of the Stockholm Archipelago in Sweden. Stockholm Archipelago
The Stockholm Archipelago () is the largest archipelago in Sweden, and the second-largest archipelago in the Baltic Sea (the largest being the Archipelago Sea across the Baltic in Finland). Part of the archipelago has been designated as a Ramsar site since 1989. Stockholm Archipelago has been found to have slightly over 24,000 islands, islets and skerries and covers approximately 1,700 km² of which approximately 530 km² is land. There are around 10,000 permanent residences and 50,000 holiday homes in the archipelago. Österåker Municipality
Österåker Municipality (, ) is a municipality in Stockholm County in east central Sweden. Its seat is located in the town of Åkersberga, with a population of 26,727 (2005). From 1974 to 1982 Österåker was part of Vaxholm Municipality. Its location by the Stockholm archipelago, in the Roslagen area, attracts both people who settles here, often commuting to Stockholm, and visiting tourists. Österåker boasts several golf courses, many possibilities for canoeing, horse riding, fishing and other nature activities. Österåker also has a historical significance, with at least three notable castles from the 17th and 18th centuries, with histories tracing even further back. Ingmarsö
Ingmarsö is an island located in the Stockholm archipelago in Sweden. The westernmost part of Ingmarsö consists of the Brottö peninsula. Today, Ingmarsö has around 150 permanent residents and around thirty companies, including a boatyard, resturaunt, shop with pharmacy, system and postal agents, home bakery, carpenters and other entrepreneurs. The island has no road connection with the mainland, but is serviced by Waxholmsbolaget and boat taxis to two regular jetties: Ingmarsö Södra and Ingmarsö Norra. Husarö
Husarö is an island in the Stockholm archipelago, northeast of Stockholm and south of Norrtälje. History Husarö housed Harbour pilot, pilots from the 15th century until 1912 when the pilot station was closed. There is a small pilot museum on the island. In 1719, during the Great Northern War, the Russians burnt the settlement and much of the forest on the island. The island's shop was burned down in May 2006. Transportation There are scheduled ferry services to the island and the journey takes around two and a half hours from the centre of Stockholm. Waxholmsbolaget goes to Husarö from Strömkajen and Cinderellabåtarna leave from Strandvägen in Stockholm. Waxholms Ångfartygs AB, commonly referred to as Waxholmsbolaget, is a shipping company owned by Stockholm county council and is responsible for the seaborne public transport in the Stockholm archipelago and Stockholm harbour. The company, which is mostly tax-funded, carried about 4.3 million travellers in 2003, covering a region from Arholma in north of the archipelago to Landsort in the south. The company owns 20 archipelago boats, and four boats for the inner-city Djurgården ferry line. The operation of the ships is handled by several contractors, some of whom also operate their own ships on behalf of Waxholmsbolaget.
