Filmex
The Los Angeles International Film Exposition, also called Filmex, was an annual Los Angeles film festival held in the 1970s and early 1980s. It was co-founded by Gary Essert, George Cukor and Philip Chamberlin in 1970. In 1976, Alfred Hitchcock was the first person to receive the Filmex Trustees Award. In 1983, co-founder Essert was forced to resign due to the festival's budget problems and disagreements with the board of trustees over policy. In his place, Suzanne McCormick was named as executive director and Ken Wlaschin as artistic director. In 1985, Jerry Weintraub became chairman and chief executive of the board promising to make Filmex the world's number 1 film festival. American Cinematheque
The American Cinematheque is an independent, non-profit cultural organization in Los Angeles, California, United States that represents the public presentation of the moving image in all its forms. Ken Wlaschin
Kenneth Glen Wlaschin (July 12, 1934November 10, 2009) was an American film programmer, historian of film and music, and author. Biography Wlaschin was born in Bradish, Nebraska and went to high school in Scottsbluff, Nebraska. He graduated from Dartmouth College in 1956 with a Bachelor of Arts in English. He moved to Europe for his English literature Master's degree at University College Dublin and later studied French at the University of Poitiers. In 1958 he joined the US Army in the Counterintelligence Corps based in Poitiers. He moved to Rome and became arts editor and critic for ''Rome Daily American'' and wrote a column for the British newspaper the ''Daily Sketch''. Flesh For Frankenstein
''Flesh for Frankenstein'' is a 1973 horror film written and directed by Paul Morrissey. It stars Udo Kier, Joe Dallesandro, Monique van Vooren and Arno Juerging. In West Germany and the United States, the film was released as ''Andy Warhol's Frankenstein'' and was presented in the Space-Vision 3D process in premiere engagements. It was rated X by the MPAA due to its explicit sexuality, nudity and violence. In the 1970s, a 3-D version played in London and Stockholm. Jerry Weintraub
Jerome Charles Weintraub (September 26, 1937 – July 6, 2015) was an American film producer, talent manager and actor whose television films won him three Emmys. He began his career as a talent agent, having managed known singer John Denver in 1970, developing Denver's success through concerts, television specials, and film roles, including ''Oh, God! (film), Oh, God!'' (1977). Weintraub has been credited with making "show business history" by being the first to organize and manage large arena concert tours for singers. Among the other performers whose tours he managed were Elvis Presley, Frank Sinatra, The Four Seasons (band), The Four Seasons, Neil Diamond, Bob Dylan, Led Zeppelin, Three Dog Night and The Carpenters. ''Women in Revolt'' is a 1971 American satirical film produced by Andy Warhol and directed by Paul Morrissey. It was initially released as ''Andy Warhol's Women''. The film stars Jackie Curtis, Candy Darling, and Holly Woodlawn, three superstars of Warhol's Factory scene. It also features soundtrack music by John Cale. Plot The film satirizes the Women's Liberation Movement, and alludes to Valerie Solanas and the ''SCUM Manifesto''. Holly and Jackie form a small group of "women's libbers." They convince Candy, a wealthy socialite who has an incestuous relationship with her brother, to join them at their meetings. George Dewey Cukor ( ; July 7, 1899 – January 24, 1983) was an American film director and film producer, producer. He mainly concentrated on comedies and literary adaptations.
